I've Discovered the Secret to Getting Views on My Articles
after a bit of study
I have been writing online for a very long time.
At first, years ago, it was easy to make money. In fact, I made a living writing for "content sites" like the now dead Bubblews and Associated Content.
There were a lot of those sites back then, and I wrote for many of them.
The thing was, anyone could easily make money writing crap content for these sites.
And I wrote a lot of crap content, for money.
But things change.
The economy got worse, and these sites were no longer profitable, and they died. Pretty much ALL of them, except for HubPages.
And it's debatable whether HubPages is still alive or not.
Content sites are long gone.
And I no longer make money writing.
But that's OK, I'm not trying to anymore.
Not in the way I used to, anyway.
Yes, I try to make money writing, but I don't make much, because I usually write things like poetry now, science fiction, short stories.
Or I just blog about my life, and no one wants to read that.
I know how to make money writing, I just won't write about the things that tend to make more money, like finance and AI and Tech.
I'm not interested in those things, so I won't write about them.
I'm in a different headspace now.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, there certainly isn't. Writers have to make money, and there is nothing wrong with doing so.
It's just not my cup of tea anymore.
But I've discovered how I can get more views, and thus more money, if I concentrate more on specific topics, ones that I am really passionate about.
For me, that's conspiracy theories, paranormal topics, and other "weird" topics.
I've noticed that the more of ME I put into my articles, the more views I get.
Topics like Tartaria and the Mandela Effect that I never would have thought people would be interested in.
But I think it's because I care, and THAT'S what is interesting to people.
I could be wrong. Maybe people really are more interested in "weird" stuff that I thought they were.
But either way, it's a win for everyone.
I will begin to publish less poetry and personal stories, and start writing more about the strange things I find fascinating. And readers will win because it's what they apparently want to read.
I really think it's PASSION for something that draws people to notice, and be interested.
I don't know why. It seems to be the case in persona s well. You can always tell when someone is putting their fire into their art
And when you put your fire into anything, it BECOMES art.
That is what I think creativity IS.
Your personal fire, and how you express it.
It could be how you dress, things you make, how you work.
So my focus is going to change.
I'm only going to write from the heart, about things I really care about.
I do care about poetry and science fiction, but for me they are not passions. They are pastimes. And that's OK.
I don't have to be passionate about everything I write.
But I'm going to focus on the stuff I REALLY care about.
Even if these things are "weird" to other people. They are weird to me too. I need a break from overanalyzing, and just time writing.
Your passion is going to be totally different from mine. Most likely. But I think you should write from your heart. Make the most of your creative energy.
Write from your fire.
