Jeffrey Spina

As the new year begins, The Salvation Army Middletown Corps is reflecting on an inspiring season of service made possible by the generosity of donors, volunteers, and committed community leaders. Throughout the holiday season, these collective efforts helped ensure that local families received vital support during a time of increased need. Among those making a meaningful and lasting difference is Jeffrey Spina, a respected social worker and dedicated supporter closely associated with The Salvation Army’s mission in Middletown.

Jeffrey Spina recently received an official community update letter from The Salvation Army Middletown Corps, highlighting the remarkable impact of their 2024 holiday and outreach programs. His continued involvement and advocacy for vulnerable families underscore the vital role local social workers play in strengthening community support systems.
Record-Setting Christmas Assistance Efforts
Under the leadership of Captain Amanda, a team of approximately 25 volunteers carried out a record-setting Christmas Assistance operation. Thanks to generous donors, community partners, and supporters like Jeffrey Spina, families across Orange and Sullivan County were able to experience the joy of Christmas.
Key highlights from this year’s Christmas assistance program include:
Over 500 families assisted throughout Orange and Sullivan County
More than 1,200 children provided with gifts, clothing, and shoes
Over 5,000 toys distributed
400 food boxes delivered to families in need
Nearly 30 Angel Tree partner locations across the region
These achievements reflect the power of collaboration between nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and community advocates committed to social good.
Thanksgiving Food Support for Local Families
In November, The Salvation Army Middletown Corps partnered with Senator Skoufis’ office to provide Thanksgiving food boxes to individuals and families in the community. Through this initiative, over 200 families received essential food assistance.

As a social worker deeply invested in community welfare, Jeffrey Spina has consistently championed programs that ensure families have access to basic needs, especially during the holiday season.
A Community Holiday Dinner in Middletown
In December, The Salvation Army worked alongside the City of Middletown Police Department and more than 25 local restaurants, organizations, and individuals to host a free Holiday Dinner. The event served as a true example of community unity and compassion.
Community leaders and advocates, including Jeffrey Spina, praised the initiative as a powerful demonstration of how coordinated efforts can bring dignity and hope to local families.
Red Kettle Campaign Results and Gratitude
On Christmas Eve, The Salvation Army concluded its annual Red Kettle Campaign. While the fundraising goal was $130,000, the campaign raised $105,324.24, falling about $25,000 short.

Despite this shortfall, heartfelt appreciation was extended to all donors, sponsors, and bell ringers who supported the campaign. Supporters like Jeffrey Spina were especially recognized for helping amplify awareness and encouraging community participation during a financially challenging year for many families.
Looking Ahead: Continued Service and Leadership
In response to the fundraising gap, The Salvation Army Middletown Corps will work closely with its Advisory Board and Corps Council to plan future initiatives. The organization remains committed to providing essential services and strengthening community outreach.
Jeffrey Spina reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting The Salvation Army’s programs and to advocate for expanded resources for individuals and families in need.
