Personal growth can sometimes be a challenge when you don’t know where to start or aren’t really sure how to achieve personal growth. However, sometimes it is the smallest and simplest habits that really cause the most personal growth. Also, the good news is personal growth can mean whatever you want or need it to mean. It’s whatever you feel like you need to grow in or work on. But there are some basic habits that can help you start your personal growth process.

No technology the first hour of your day.

When it comes to personal growth and living your life the way you want to, one of the best things you can do is start your day on your own terms. One of the ways that you can do that is not looking at your phone, your computer, or even your TV for at least the first hour you are awake. The reason for this is if you look at your technology first thing you are being influenced by other people’s thoughts and words before you can even have your own. So if you take that first hour to wake up and go through your morning routine, you can have your own thoughts and ideas. You can spend that time working on a project, writing in your journal, or just getting things accomplished that you want to get done before other people start demanding your time and attention for the rest of the day.

Exercise regularly.

This is sometimes easier said than done, but it is important. Exercising is not only great for your physical health, but it is also important for your mental health. There are so many benefits to exercising that it is really difficult to feel super comfortable leaving it out of your habits you are building. And exercising doesn’t have to mean doing a super high intensity work out everyday. It could be cleaning your house, going on a walk, or playing in the backyard with your kids or your pet. But some form of exercise everyday is really beneficial and helps you feel so much better.

Follow a budget.

Life is just so much easier when you aren’t stressed about money and trying to keep up with everything on your own. Having a budget and sticking to it takes the guesswork out of so much of your life. If you are looking to gain personal growth and you want to take back control of your life, one of the best ways to achieve that is to create a budget for yourself and stick to it. Cut out things you don’t need, prioritize getting out of debt, and stay on track as much as you can. A budget will help you feel much more in control, will help you stay balanced, and will prevent your spending from getting too out of hand.

Make watching Netflix productive.

It’s safe to say you probably won’t be cutting watching Netflix out of your life. If you want to and it’s possible for you, then that is perfectly fine. However, if that’s not practical for you and you can’t imagine giving up binge watching your favorite TV shows, then there is a way to keep Netflix watching while still making it productive. When you want to watch Netflix, use that time to do something productive while you are watching. That could be walking on the treadmill, doing laundry, or any other activity that you can do simultaneously while watching your favorite shows. This way you are putting all that TV time to good use without actually having to give anything up.

Plan your week every Sunday.

Sundays are so valuable and they really are super useful if you use them the right way. Take some time every Sunday to plan your week. Plan important appointments, plan your meals for the week, and make sure you schedule anything that you want or need to do. Some things might change later in the week, but it’s not likely that every single thing will change unless you just don’t stick to your schedule at all. So having that basic plan and structure will help you have some guidance and stay on top of your goals.

Personal growth can seem daunting if you aren’t sure where to begin. However, hopefully these small habits are things you can start with to help you get the ball rolling and get started on your journey. You can start to build things as you get better and your journey gets easier. These habits can help you take control of your life and how you are spending your time and feel much better about starting your personal growth journey.
