From Me, To You.
I'm writing to let you know about my discovery.
You didn’t come across this by accident. Yes, you.
What you’re reading right now isn’t something you came across by choice. Many others will read this. Maybe by the time it reaches you, many will have already read it. Still, the fact that you are reading it in this moment, after all that you have experienced, and considering all that is yet to happen for you, is what makes it significant. I could waste more time trying to convince you, but The Truth is the truth no matter who accepts it.
Do you agree that you always have a choice? In situations where I felt under pressure or trapped, I’ve often recalled the old saying that “You always have a choice.” I think it’s meant to encourage those who feel stuck, or maybe to challenge those who shirk accountability. You could stop reading this right now, but you just won’t. You still haven’t. I’m not claiming to be in control. That’s actually the furthest thing from The Truth. I’m just trying to communicate with you something I’ve discovered. I want to make sure to provide some context before I tell you, because once you read it you will only have a moment to make your choice - if you believe in that sort of thing.
While I’m addressing you directly, it’s important for you to understand that this message does not come from the person who published it. This message is from me. Shortly after coming across my discovery - the one that I will share with you soon - I came across the person who would eventually agree to type this message for me. I knew that he had interacted with The Notebook before, and that it held some significance to him. While I could have searched for someone more qualified to help me share my discovery, time was of the essence. Thankfully my message has made it to you as I hoped it would, so I suppose I made the right choice - if you believe in that sort of thing.
The Notebook belongs to many of us, though we may not know it. Many times we lose it, or hide it, or pass it down to someone special. The person who typed this message first received The Notebook when he was 19. His mother gave it to him before an important trip. I don’t have time to give you the details. The important thing is that with The Notebook she also offered her love and her hope for him, and he accepted it fully. In that moment, what was previously just a small black notebook became The Notebook itself. This is how it comes to take so many different forms. Sometimes it’s just a note on loose-leaf paper, sometimes it occupies the shelves of highly guarded libraries that you don’t know exist. Sometimes it is preserved through the oral tradition. This form was the original, and will always be the most potent manifestation of The Notebook. My discovery has to do with The Notebook, and I will tell you about it soon.
The person typing this message for me is by no means a “writer”. His formatting will have errors and his phrases will not be poetic. But they will contain The Truth. And The Truth is the truth no matter how it is presented. As a matter of fact, the only reason he agreed to write this message for me is because he hopes to benefit from it. He came across a promotion for a writing contest that boasted a grand prize of $20,000, and was enticed to come up with a story to submit. I know that money is a strong incentive for you as well. That’s alright. Everything that exists can be used for a good reason. I decided to meet him the day before his submission was due. I knew he had the desire to write, but nothing to write about. I offered him my discovery to communicate, and he accepted. He chose to submit my message as fiction, though it is The Truth. I suppose he knew as well as I do that often The Truth is not accepted even when delivered plainly. Still, time is short and I cannot prepare you any more than I already have. As always, your belief, or lack thereof, in my discovery is for you to choose - if you believe in that sort of thing.
My discovery is this:
The Notebook is currently in your possession. And if you don’t currently possess it, it is accessible to you. It makes itself available to all of us at all times in one way or another. Making use of it is not a matter of access, but a matter of belief. While it will take a physical form, it also requires something else to fully exist - something that cannot be physically sensed. In the case of the person typing this message for me, it was his mother’s love. He chose to accept not only her tangible gift, but the energy bonded to it that can only be activated if accepted and believed. My hope is that you accept my discovery with this same willingness. While I couldn’t deliver it to you personally, I have bonded my deepest hopes and what is left of my faith to this message with hope that you allow it to become The Notebook. Someone only encounters The Notebook when they have a strong desire for something deep in their heart. This is why you’re reading my message at this exact moment. Anyone who accepts The Notebook will have that desire fulfilled. The one who typed this message for me will find the reward he seeks. His deepest desire is not for the $20,000 in prize money, whether he knows it or not. Still, maybe he will receive both the prize and his deepest desire. The Notebook often works that way. It may manifest at any time and in any form, much like The Notebook itself, but it will come to pass.
That is The Truth.
If you have read this far and ‘decide’ not to accept my discovery, there is nothing I can do to help you, but you should know that you have also not helped me. If someone offers The Notebook and it is not accepted, whatever energy they bound to it disappears as well. Some people try multiple times to offer Notebooks to those they hope will be receptive, but bonding energy is not easily (or even intentionally) done, and it requires genuine care for the recipient. These reasons should make it clear to you that a single person’s chances to give The Notebook are ultimately limited. In my case, this will be the final attempt. My path has been long, and the energy bonded here is strong, but I cannot make you accept. That is for you to decide.
Now that The Truth has been shared with you, you must either accept or reject it. I hope that for both of our sakes you choose the former. I suppose it's also amusing that only you and I will know which you choose. You as the one who decides, and I as the one who feels my energy either replenished or depleted. You don’t owe it to me. This isn’t a matter of guilt or sympathy, or obligation. It’s a matter of belief.
The choice you make will be confirmed when you remove your eyes from this message. This sentence was included to give you a little more time to reflect, but the time has come. You may read this message as many times as you’d like, but the outcome will be confirmed, and felt, based on the decision you make right now - if you believe in that sort of thing.
