FITNESS

Fitness as a journey.

Dear Self

First off I am proud of you today. Years ago I wouldn’t have imagined you’d get to where you are at this moment. The rough patches, the struggles, the unseen tears, the battles that drained life out of you. All those setbacks you overcame have made you much stronger. You have been through hell, and sharing your story would break your loved ones. Anyway, it’s a new dawn we are here to celebrate what you have achieved. The milestones you overcame have finally paid off. Some days you may feel like you are still behind but that is entirely not true. You see, all these minefields that you walk through are a blessing in disguise. See the progress, and trust the hiatus. Goals are hard to achieve but you have never let yourself down for you are a believer. Someone somewhere sees you, admires you, emulates you, and wishes to be like you someday. Not all of them want to follow your roots. Nevertheless, in a crowd of a million, you wouldn’t miss one or two who see you as an icon. I love how you are relentless with several aspects of your life. That energy, the zeal, the aura is out of this planet. So keep doing what you are doing every day. The universe got eyes on you. The best of the best is yet to come. Hang in there, I am super proud darling.

When you start your fitness journey it doesn’t stop. There is no end. I’ve stopped answering questions from people who ask me “How long will it take?” Who cares how long it takes? Do it for your health. Do it to be better. Fitness isn’t an aesthetic. It’s a lifestyle. When you tell yourself all you need is “4 weeks” or “3 weeks” you’ve already put a cap on your potential, your progress, and your possibilities. When you decide to commit to working out and taking care of your body there is no end date, there is no stopping. Progress never ends, you just keep improving and getting stronger.

So why do I do cardio after 3 weeks?

Let no one lie to you that cardio is an easy form of exercise. It is the most challenging part of the fitness journey. Whenever I’m at it I feel like my body is screaming for me to stop. My heart races and sometimes I dread I could be having a heart attack, funny huh! In my mind, I tell myself all is going to be well when the fact is that thoughts of running from the gym keep popping into my mind.

Fitness is all about LONGEVITY. It’s like brushing your teeth, you wake up and just do it! You do it because it’s part of your routine. That’s how you need to start perceiving your wellness and fitness journey! It’s simply part of your life forever. The minute I do cardio, I put less pressure on myself, and my possibilities are endless! One direct ticket to burn fat for me is through cardio and for the single day I set aside for it I feel like they are worth it. It’s a gain for me, and even when I disdain to do it I know it is mandatory. My body feels lighter than a feather, my heart’s pulse beat normally as it should, and my mind, oh! I feel at peace and so relaxed. So you see it’s all worth it! I believe in you, so believe in you too!
