Eclectic

Every week there is always something new, whether it is part of a routine agenda or completely out of the usual. There are plenty of sayings such as "another day, another dollar." or "same shit different day." These are not terms I would describe as my everyday life. The world is full of mystery, philosophy, and we can't ever stop knowing. Everyday when I get out of bed; I am excited. I don't ever know what the day will bring me ahead. What brilliant mind will say something that resonates with my being. What adventures or experiences I will have for that day. One thing is for certain; I will learn something new.

Every Wednesday we would meet up, we would find a beat that we enjoyed, and we would pour our hearts out into a song. It will always be one of my favorite forms of therapy and self expression. As per my human nature I cannot help to control my emotions as most folk. Therefore I have to express myself through singing, writing, and other means of art. As in the song by Kendrick Lamar, I need poetic justice. "I can't ever right my wrongs unless I write them down for real." It is more than an escape for me or a moment of "getting it off my chest." I pour my whole heart and soul into my art in whatever form it seems to take. Most of the time it is in a form of a song. It can be in poems or a story. It can be in a painting. It can even be in a conversation with a loved one or a stranger.

Every chance I get to pick the minds of other humans; I am sure to take it. My friends and family have told me often that they haven't met anyone like me. I found that kind of silly because I see the uniqueness in everyone. Everyone has their own experience, their own background, their own story, and their own belief system. Everyone has their own uniqueness. I do dare to say that I love people. Through the good and the bad that I have learned and experienced, everyone plays a role in shaping the world around us and that we live in. Where there is a bad seed, we learn from them. Where there is a good seed, we are motivated by them. I stay fascinated by the world and therefore to me I can find fascinating people, events, and ideas everywhere.

Every time I am in an in-depth conversation, on stage singing my heart out, pouring words into black and white, or flowing a paint brush onto a canvas; I am true and authentic to my being. How I know is that I am complete, I am happy, I am enriched by life, and I have a collection of cherished memories. I believe in order for us to be our true self we must first learn to honor, accept, and be honest with ourselves. Seek things that we find joy in and not just because we are good at it, but because we are filled with passion about it. We don't need to be disengaged with what we were told is reality or too caught up in our daily work life and routine. The reality is that we can have new and exciting experiences everyday.

Everyone has a different perspective and a view on the world. Doesn't matter to me whether I agree with them or not. At the end of the day I will choose to be myself and give compassion for you to be yourself. I will choose to be different and not because I think I am something special, but because when we are true to ourselves; we are all different. Marilyn Monroe once said, "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." Dare to be different. Dare to be unique. Dare to be true to yourself. Do this regardless of any worries, fears, or any other limitational beliefs. It may not be conventional to societal means. As a "struggling" artist, I am well aware of how disappointing that may be to others. However, I love doing what I do and being who I am. In result I have monumental memories, experiences and wisdom that no one can take away from me.

Everyday is a new chance for endless possibilities. Today I may learn some math, discover a new poem pattern, learn about a different culture's norms, read a new book, find a new passion of mine, invent a new recipe, learn a new dance move, help cheer up a loved one, and what matters most is that the possibilities are endless. The start of my day was this that you are reading now. This is eclectic me, authentically.
