Using the normal approach to submit applications for jobs is no longer effective. The world has progressed, and you must also adjust to it.

Is it conceivable that you can recollect the last time you went out and sought work? In the event that you are currently hunting for work, you are aware of how tough it is to acquire a call for an interview.

If you submitted your application through LinkedIn, there is a lesser possibility that HR will contact you. Because you were not the only person who applied for the job, there were a thousand other people who did as well.

Are you aware that over seventy percent of the people who are already employed are looking for a new job?

In today's volatile work market, the conventional strategy of aggressively hunting for jobs is no longer the way to success.

Instead of continuously applying to dozens of positions, what if you could reverse the process and enable the best possibilities to come to you?

After thousands of years of development, people eventually began to look for jobs that required them to sit at a desk in the late 1800s. In addition, our strategy has remained intact.

Visit the company, hand over our resumes, and then wait for a callback from the employer.

This process has become online in recent times. But the crux of it remains the same.

But with so much evolution, shouldn’t the method of gaining your next job change?

With the rise of personal branding, social media, and networking, it’s more possible than ever to construct a system where recruiters seek you out.

By investing time in developing your brand, using your network, and allowing patience to work its magic, you can attract opportunities that are the appropriate fit for you.

Why should we adapt the job hunting approach?

The solution is quite straightforward.

Have we not changed the way we order food? (Uber Foods/Zomato)

Have we not changed the way we learn? (YouTube)

Have we not changed the way we work? (Hybrid/remote)

So as the world around us has developed, why have we not changed the way we seek jobs?

Some of us have evolved like the top 1%; they have changed their approach. But it's the rest of the folks who have not changed.

Here is the CEO of Zomato (an Indian food delivery startup), Deepinder Goyal, talking about the hiring method at his company.

“We don’t hire people who are looking for jobs, because the kind of people we need are not looking for jobs.”

This approach is not simply followed by Zomato but by many other companies.

So the question arises: When should we look for jobs?

The optimal moment to switch a job is when the correct possibility occurs.

Not when you are frustrated with your situation.

But now how should you make sure that the correct chance arrives to you?

After talking to others who have already done it, I have cut it down to 4 criteria.

Doing these 4 things has enabled the prospects to attract recruiters. Let's understand each of these 4 points in depth.

I have developed a list of the TOP 50 companies that you can apply to for a PM position. List of firms based on market cap, type, and industry. Comment “Company List” along with your email to receive access to the same.

4 things to do to attract a recruiter

If you had to take one thing from this post, it should be, “Don’t run behind success; chase excellence; success will come behind you.”

This remark comes from one of my favorite movies, “3 Idiots.”.

This is truly true. If you are good at something and others recognize it, you will never need to go behind jobs.

1. Build Your Brand

Establishing a strong personal brand is the first step to letting jobs find you.

Think of yourself as a product that needs to stand out in a crowded marketplace.

The first thing that you need to do is to sit down and identify what you are strong at, whether it is frontend, backend, product management, UI, etc.

Break it down to the lowest skill.

It can also be done with Figma.

Now your only goal is to share this information and experience that you have with the world.

Create content that highlights your talents, such as writing blog articles, making films, or sharing ideas on platforms like LinkedIn/Twitter.

Engage with communities relevant to your field. The more visible and important you are, the more likely recruiters will acknowledge your knowledge.

Make sure your website, portfolio, and social networks are polished and consistent with your professional image.

Having a clear and appealing brand will make it easier for opportunities to find their way to you.

2. Leverage Networking and Connections

These should be the most typical suggestions that you read in each blog article or video connected to Jobs.

Networking is a critical tool, but in this context, it’s less about begging for jobs and more about developing meaningful, long-lasting relationships.

It's about connecting with individuals while you are not hunting for jobs.

By focusing on developing true connections with people in your organization, you will naturally be top of mind when an opportunity arrives.

Start by visiting industry events, webinars, and conferences where you can meet professionals and peers.

Maintain these relationships by keeping in touch, offering aid when possible, and sharing relevant content.

Networking doesn’t always have to be transactional; it's about developing a network of people who know your talents and can vouch for you.

Remember, possibilities often emerge from persons who are in your extended network, even those that may not be hiring right now.

3. Let Recruiters and Opportunities Come to You

Once you’ve developed a solid web presence and have formed a network, you can begin letting recruiters and hiring managers come to you.

Recruiters generally utilize LinkedIn and other platforms to identify appropriate candidates based on skills and industry reputation, so enhance your profiles for searchability.

This requires having a keyword-rich bio, highlighting accomplishments, and displaying thought leadership in your area.

Use employment boards or websites like AngelList, but instead of only applying, let recruiters see your profile and contact you. Keep your profile updated, even when not actively seeking possibilities.

Make it apparent that you’re open to new opportunities without being overly aggressive.

By being visible and showing value, recruiters will come to you for openings that fit your capabilities.

Make sure to list your areas of expertise. So that they can recognize you as a possible applicant.

4. Embrace Patience and Persistence

Letting the job find you doesn’t suggest you’ll have offers flooding in overnight.

It’s a long-term strategy that demands patience and persistence.

Building a brand and network takes time and effort, and it won’t happen quickly.

You’ll need to maintain generating content, building relationships, and being involved in your field.

It’s vital to remember that opportunities will arrive at the perfect timing, and speeding the process may result in adopting tasks that aren’t the ideal fit.

Trust the process, be continuous in your efforts, and finally, the appropriate opportunities will come to you.

One mantra to live by is: Always be hunting for a job.

No matter how good the current opportunity is, how comfy your current employment is.

If you acquire an offer that is better than your current employment, then please give it a go.

Final thoughts

In the modern employment market, it’s time to stop hunting chances and start attracting them.

By developing your brand, employing your network, and positioning yourself for visibility, the suitable job will find its way to you.

All it takes is a little patience, perseverance, and a deliberate approach to your career success.

Instead of seeking a job, let the job look for you.
