Become a Hero In Your Own Eyes
It may seem that the time of heroes has passed. But this is an illusion. Each of us is the hero of our own life.
Human history goes back centuries, where leaders, prophets, philosophers, and warriors left their mark on culture, became symbols and legends, characters that no longer look like real people. It may seem that the time of heroes has passed. Legends have ceased to be relevant in the age of the Internet when it has become easy to study history, personalities, and facts.
But this is an illusion. Each of us is the hero of our own life.
Heroes of modern fairy tales.
Now a lot of things are assessed in a completely different way than before: for example, the growth of the hero Ilya Muromets was one hundred and seventy-seven centimeters. Nowadays, you won't surprise anyone with such growth, and in those days when the average height of men was one hundred and sixty centimeters, he really was a hero.
And the behavior of the characters was different: battles, battles. And now these are ways of being creative about your role and designing thinking to achieve the goal.
We live in hundreds of different stories at the same time. Obedient children of their parents, decisive managers, loving fathers, and mothers - all this is combined in people and comes to the fore when necessary. Different roles of your life are constantly looking for patterns and images, in relation to which they form their own model of behavior, a true picture of themselves.
Think about which ones you need to achieve your most secret goals?
Starting Points for Finding a Role.
Our life is a creative story. When we do not pay due attention to it, life begins to seem boring, crises arise, the tension in relations with others. This is the result of a broken relationship with yourself.
When roles are assigned to us from the outside, but we have not found our own, a dead-end arises. "Who do they take me for?" we ask. To get out of the impasse, one needs willpower, the recognition of mistakes, and the acceptance of responsibility, as well as an example of behavior, albeit conditional and mythological.
A creative, developed, strong-willed person is led by the active roles of a winner, leader, or author.
Having found the winner in ourselves, we recognize that we are able to overcome the resistance of circumstances and achieve our goals.
- The role of leader is assigned to us by those around us who are ready to accept our leadership.
- The author is the role of a person who is able to create, share thoughts, influence others through the act of creativity. The most important role in society is the authors. The author is subordinate to his craft, he serves his work, the birth of the content needed by people.
These may be your first heroes: the winner, the leader, the author.
We not only choose a role for ourselves but also build it, because this very model of behavior and thinking helps us to see a new meaning, a symbol, in everyday life. Often the very communication with people who have a distinct role - social, professional, personal - helps others to see in their thinking, ideas, judgments some new dimension of the familiar.
Discussing, for example, with a composer something in common between the design of a musical instrument and music itself, one can suddenly understand that for a musician, complete silence is like a canvas, like a blank sheet for a designer or writer. This is an instrument of perfect contrast: against the backdrop of silence and its beauty, any sound will claim a feeling for itself. One can understand the importance and purity of deep silence, whether at a concert or in real life. Next to you, a person wants to hear his inner music, and you will interfere with him with fuss and noise, clog up the space that is so necessary for creativity. The space of music is very organic to thinking: sound creates elusive pictures of images, and thinking picks them up. That is why sometimes it is so pleasant and useful to work to the music, to create a mood for yourself.
How to find your role.
Choose a role that is more difficult than what you are used to. Let this role develop, create tension. Become bigger and more significant, more interesting for yourself. Let's say you managed projects with a group of clients yesterday. And today, try on the role of the author and entrepreneur. You have seen how the market lives, how orders come and become design plans and production. So start making your own. This does not mean that you have stolen knowledge or other people's roles. You just found a new you, your business.
Choose where you want to live, what music to listen to, what ideas to promote. Even if it is a rented apartment in a provincial high-rise building, where you will feel like you are on top of the world. When you prioritize certain music, you choose your mindset. Music works bring consciousness to those levels where there are no notes and harmonies, but there is an attraction of synapses and hormones of joy. Choosing the role of the author obliges to invent. The role of the entrepreneur is to exchange one value for another. The role of the mastermind is to push the smart ones smartly. There are thousands of roles, the main thing is to choose your own.
Choose your audience. Why do you need the right people around? They provide an honest evaluation of your work. Self-realization needs this honesty like air, like soil for roots - it contains the strength for your growth. People around you are called to make you better, especially with criticism and comments. They motivate you to do your job better.
Why is self-realization difficult?
Because your personal content, everything that is really valuable and important to you, suddenly penetrates into your work and you can no longer separate yourself from your own business. Many advise not to cross this border. It's hard to live there. This border separates creators, restless inventors, authors, artists, artists from people who have hobbies and understandable relationships with themselves.
But what if you can't stop thereby improving and improving what you do?
A normal brain with creative pistons and rational gears works exactly like this: it is constantly thrown into the future, it does not mess around among the dusty and rusty concepts of the past. He cleans off rust, polishes parts to a shine, and pushes intuition springs into tomorrow.
The exercise.
Make a list of ten of your favorite movies. For each movie, write down one short sentence describing the plot. Create five new movie ideas by combining plot and title pairs. For example, "The Silence of the Lambs" and "A Visitor from the Future" could be the basis for the new film "Silence from the Future", as young pioneer Alice Starling investigates the time travel of a school class that disappeared along with an elderly teacher Hannibal.
Tips for getting started.
Dream. Let's imagine an abundance of vivid and emotional images. Our society does not celebrate dreamers too much, but you can do it consciously, creating a picture of your future life and self-realization.
Dream not in images, but in actions. Of course, you can imagine that you have achieved everything. This is the right image, a good role that inspires, but it will not give you an impulse and will not teach you how to build steps towards this goal. Represent actions. How will each step bring you closer to the top?
Dream big. Imagine that your path will not be so easy, that there will be serious obstacles. Any enthusiasm disappears after a couple of weeks, but you have to force yourself to continue working. Think that, although these difficulties can scare opponents, your hero will look for room to maneuver, explore the horizon, and eventually achieve his goal.
Make your childhood dreams come true. Lead yourself by the hand from the past to the future. Have you dreamed of becoming a musician? It's time to go at thirty-five and learn to play the guitar, and then publicly perform in front of your friends, knowing that you will be sitting in the front row yourself, seven years old, with a dream in your soul. This is the path to happiness. It is not easy, but it is very important that we ourselves look at ourselves with admiration, which happens only when we are seven.
