A Pup that Showed Me Something Real: True Love

By Christina BargerPublished 4 years ago 4 min read
Love at first site, as 2 old souls we finally found each other and many Lifetimes of love.

"Major Depression"

I was 24, didn't have a sense of self, I felt that I needed to find myself. I felt as if I needed to find something, I didn't know what that was. I had everything that I wanted, a boyfriend of 10 years, lots of clothes, and whatever I desired. But it was like I had nothing, material objects just didn't cut it for me, for they will be here long after I'm gone. I had to go within myself, to really find myself. I knew this, but It never happened so I just did what people normally do. Go to the doctor and they gave me medicine, it numbed the pain, I thought it was the way for a long time and then one day I started to wean myself off the medication because I needed to feel again. I decided to ride and it was the greatest feeling but only lasted so long. I lived in a small town called Wallkill, New York, in the countryside with a well-known race track right behind my house called "The Playboy Track", the locals used it to practice for all the big races that come to life in the spring, I was one of them. I love to ride, it's nothing like anything in the world, I always feel free when I'm riding. AMA stands for American motorist Association. Then one day I had a calling, from a soul that need me, that needed me to love her, I didn't know who or what it was yet. Riding freed me but not in totality, I had to find and seek something of the unknown, it hasn't happened yet. Maybe I wasn't ready. So riding will have to do for now.

"One Rainy Day"

It was a rainy day, clouds all around, what a dreadful day without any sunshine. I was bored out of my mind just driving along singing along to my music, "ANGEL" By Amanda Perez, the "City of Horrors they call it, beat down abandoned buildings, people all over living in captivity, roads still from decades past, made from red bricks, that street I was on was called liberty st in a city called Newburgh, New York. As I was driving down the road in a blue 2001 Ford F-150 Pickup truck, I had to pull over for a minute to take a phone call, an "UNKNOWN" number, thinking if I should pick my phone up or not, call it "FAITH", "GOD" Or a"Coincidence" or maybe divine intervention I decided to pick the phone up, It was an ad that I called a few days prior about a 7- week old PitBull Puppy, they asked if I still wanted the puppy, I knew it was in the Ghetto where I was driving around, but didn't expect the next thing that was going to come to be, I had a pen and paper to write down the address, as she was telling me the address, I happen to look up, sign puppies for sale, I pulled over at the exact address as she gave me, I didn't want to spook the girl, so I said ok I'll be there in a few minutes but this girl was already outside, I already told her my vehicle type, so I just got out the truck and she said that was quick, she didn't see me because she was busy tending to her child facing the other direction. She brought her out, I paid her and left.

I named my beautiful love "Princess", as it was just the most perfect name for such a heart made of gold. We bonded right away, she came and laid on my lap as we went to get everything we needed for her at Pet Smart. We bought her some new toys, outfits, a few jackets, only the best food, pig ears, tons of treats, along with all the other things needed for her including a nameplate and a big bed.

"Going Home"

We got back in the truck and headed home, she was the best thing in my life that ever happen to me, she brought me so much happiness as I did her. From the very first day she followed me as if I didn't need a leash, all I said to her was "Bye" and she would come flying to me, right to the door, wait as I locked my house, and we would walk together side by side to our truck, as if our souls were connected, she would always stay by me, she wouldn't even go to my boyfriend much. She was hilarious trying to jump in the truck being so little, I had to pick her up and place her next to me. She stood right by me, when she was tired she laid her head on my lap, every time. I never felt such a bond with anything or anyone as I did her, we were best friends, she would never go with anyone else. She is now 13 and the same as she was when we first met. The dog that showed me a life of happiness, how to love, and we know everything about each other and always know when one another is in need of love, our love is everlasting and beyond. She showed me how to love, our love is pure, it's like our souls knew one another. She brought out a side of me that I didn't know was there, I was no longer sad or depressed anymore. She showed me what true happiness was and I became a person filled with so much love because of her, she was the missing piece in my life, she made going home complete. She will always be my Princess.

She will be forever my soulmate and vice versa. Two souls forever intertwined.

happiness
