20 Life-Changing Habits For Your 20s
You'll never change your life until you change something you do daily.

These are some of the habits that I believe are the most important & the ones that I’m trying to build myself.
20s are ideal for building strong lifelong habits because your willpower is the strongest at that time.
You can pretty much force yourself into anything if you want.
However, I believe these habits are life-changing no matter what age you start developing them.
Better late than never.
1. The habit of learning.
You will never have more time to yourself than in your 20s.
It’s important to use this time to expand your horizons.
Start developing a learner’s mindset.
Don’t limit your learnings to just your field of study/work.
Expand your knowledge about different subjects.
Observe how the world works.
This is a skill that will serve you all your life.
2. The habit of conquering your mind.
The 20s are the years of pressure - pressure to succeed, to choose a career, to get a good job, to get married & whatnot.
All of this brings a lot of unclarity & confusion.
You feel lost as a dry leaf in the wind.
It becomes essential that you develop mental clarity & toughness.
Otherwise, it’s easy to fall into the trap of escapism.
With mental clarity & toughness only can you forge a path most suitable for you.
And conquering your mind is an everyday thing.
The more you practice it, the better you become at it.
3. The habit of focus.
Focus is a rare thing in today’s world.
Hardly anyone has it nowadays.
I believe focus is the most important thing for success.
Training yourself to be focused is one of the best habits you can form in your 20s.
4. The habit of operating from self-awareness.
It’s one thing to be self-aware & know what works or doesn’t work for you.
It’s a whole different thing to then take actions in alignment with this knowledge.
It’s so key to develop this habit in your 20s.
Because the decisions you take in your 20s, affect the other decades of your life.
5. The habit of protecting your time.
In your 20s, everyone wants a part of your day.
It’s difficult to manage your time between all the different commitments you have to fulfil.
Studies/work, personal life, social life, relationships, side projects, habits, hobbies, etc.
But it circles back to learning to be focused.
Your 20s are also the period when you get the most time to build yourself & your life.
Hence, you need to protect your time ferociously.
6. The habit of problem-solving.
You will run into problems in life.
It’s better to learn how to approach them.
Most people lack this mindset & habit and hence problems cripple them.
This results in a reduced quality of life.
When you’re struggling to survive, you don’t even think about thriving.
Developing the problem-solver mindset & being confident in your ability to deal with troubles will help you throughout your life.
7. The habit of self-reliance.
You don’t know what curveballs life will throw your way.
You also don’t know if you’ll always get the help you need from someone else.
It’s essential to develop a habit of self-reliance.
We all have this innate ability, we have just forgotten how to use it.
8. The habit of self-discipline.
Self-discipline is a habit that is required to build every other habit in life.
You practice this habit with everything that you do every single day.
9. The habit of decisiveness.
This is the most rewarding habit.
Many people struggle with decision-making throughout their lives.
They feel anxious & fearful when they have to make an important decision.
They consult all their friends about what to do next.
They lack faith in their abilities to make a good enough decision.
This is simply a result of a lack of the habit of decisiveness.
You need to learn to be decisive.
And when you begin to build this habit, sure, you’ll make some bad decisions.
But that practice is required to reach the point where you can make the right decisions.
10. The habit of resilience.
You will face failures, big and small, throughout your life.
Your ability to bounce back from them quickly is a key life skill.
11. The habit of living in the present moment.
I swear life flies by really quickly when you’re not living in the present.
Your 20s are especially the time that you can lose in the blink of an eye if you’re not present.
Instead, enjoy & truly live each & every day.
Make your best years also your most intentional years.
Cultivate this habit because it will help you for the rest of your life.
12. The habit of adaptability.
Adaptability is a key life skill.
It’s something you have to practice on a daily basis.
You won’t always get the most favorable situations.
But your ability to adjust & adapt will save you from a lot of worry & tension.
13. The habit of emotion management.
You are a creature of emotion.
No matter the situation, you’ll always be experiencing some kind of emotion.
And emotions make you feel things & say things & do things.
It is so key that you develop the habit of managing your own emotions.
Stress, conflict, anger, sadness, pressure, anxiety, etc., can affect you severely.
The earlier you learn to manage these emotions effectively the better.
14. The habit of self-care.
One of the most essential & neglected habits in the 20s.
If you don’t have your health, it pretty much doesn’t matter what else you have.
Taking care of your body, mind, and emotions should be a regular & non-negotiable habit.
I’ve noticed that the way you treat your self-care in your 20s gets carried throughout your life.
Lousy habits, lack of activeness & strength gets carried in the 30s, 40s & beyond.
15. The habit of managing personal finances properly.
Just like your health.
The way you treat your finances in your 20s gets carried throughout your life.
Not building discipline around your spending habits & money management leads to financial instability way beyond the 20s.
16. The habit of sacrificing.
You must make sacrifices for what you want in life.
At every point, you need to make tough choices & sacrifices.
This could mean urges, inclinations, distractions & comforts.
Sacrificing what you want now for what you want long-term is a high ROI skill.
17. The habit of being playful.
Growing up should never mean you forget playfulness.
Instead, it’s a habit that should be cultivated actively.
The journey is going to be hard as it is, don’t begin taking yourself & your life too seriously.
18. The habit of listening & observing.
This is a habit that will help you immensely in your social dynamics.
Knowing how to actually listen & observe is a high ROI skill.
Not only in your personal life but also in your work environment.
It will help you develop empathy & compassion, which is key in any relationship.
Not to mention, help to determine the true intentions of people, no matter what they say.
19. The habit of curiosity.
Curiosity will lead to problem-solving, better goals & better quality of life.
Curiosity is what makes humans want to grow & become better.
Being excited about exploring the possibilities of this opportunity of a lifetime is what we’re here for.
20. The habit of being dependable.
“The greatest ability is dependability.”
If you look around, you’ll notice that most people lack this habit.
Not only does it give you huge confidence in yourself, but it also makes you stand out from the crowd.
