Warm sitz baths are a physical therapy for prostatitis that is beneficial in treating it. Localized inflammation of the prostate, as well as symptoms of prostate discomfort, can be improved with warm sitz baths.

The main effects of warm sitz baths for this condition include the following:

Promote Blood Circulation: Warm water sitz bath expands local capillaries and accelerates blood circulation, which improves local metabolism, promotes the absorption and dissipation of inflammation, and reduces the symptoms of local redness, swelling, and pain.

Relax Muscles: Tight muscles increase pressure on the urethra, leading to increased discomfort for the patient, while warm sitz baths can help relax the pelvic muscles and relieve the symptoms of prostate congestion and edema, which in turn can alleviate the patient's symptoms of urinary urgency, painful urination, and localized pain.

Relieve Bad Moods: patients may have negative moods such as anxiety and depression, and hot baths can help relieve bad moods by promoting body relaxation.

It is worth noting that warm sitz baths for prostatitis can affect sperm vitality or quality because sperm are produced in a relatively cool environment. The scrotum is on the surface of the body, and the temperature of the testicles in the scrotum is about 2 ℃ lower than the normal body temperature of the organism, so the low temperature is favorable to sperm production if warm water sitz baths for a long time or too high local temperature will harm sperm production.

If an unmarried, infertile young man has prostatitis, warm baths, and hot compresses are not recommended. Adopting an appropriate approach is necessary because an improper approach may impact fertility. Such patients are recommended to treat the disease mainly through medication or lifestyle improvement. Patients can choose to take oral traditional Chinese medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill, to eliminate the symptoms and causes of the disease and cure prostatitis completely.

At the same time, it is important to make proper adjustments in daily life to prevent prostate problems from inducing a series of complications. For patients who are already married and have children or do not have the requirement to have children, warm sitz baths can be considered after the acute inflammation period, which helps relieve the symptoms of inflammation.

If all take this treatment, different soaking methods should be taken for the two different types of patients, married and unmarried, as follows:

Prep: A basin larger than your hips and hot water around 40-42 degrees.

Soaking Method for Married with Children Patients: Legs apart, feet on the outside of the basin, buttocks sitting in the basin, add hot water to submerge the anus, perineum, testicles, scrotum, and other parts of the whole. Each soak for 15-20 minutes, 1-2 times daily.

Soaking Method for Unmarried and Childless Patients: Legs apart, feet on the outside of the basin, buttocks sitting in the basin, add hot water, submerge the anus and perineum, but the testicles and scrotum should be held up to avoid heat. Each soak for 15-20 minutes, one time a day.

Warm baths can help alleviate symptoms for prostatitis patients, but it's important to note that married and unmarried patients should adopt different soaking methods during these baths. Avoid taking hot baths blindly, as it may affect fertility. Additionally, patients should pay attention to their daily diet by avoiding spicy and irritating foods while incorporating nutrient-rich fresh vegetables and fruits.

Furthermore, it's essential not to sit for extended periods and avoid holding in urine. Drink plenty of water every day to stay hydrated and promote overall metabolism. Ensure a good night's sleep and exercise regularly to enhance physical fitness and the immune system.

Most importantly, patients should not burden themselves with excessive worries. In their daily life, they should maintain an optimistic attitude, strengthening their confidence in treatment. With timely and appropriate treatment, the disease can be completely cured.
