I'm currently on Day 30 of semen retention or “Brahmacharya." I'm doing "Hard Mode" which means no porn, no sex, no masturbation, and no wet dreams or nocturnal emissions. I find that yoga and meditation helps tremendously while doing NoFap, and I should probably be doing more meditation and yoga to be honest.
Since I haven't been going outside or outdoors at all lately, I can't really comment on social benefits. The last time I tried NoFap and I walked outside, I did get the impression that women are more likely to notice you or check you out, but until I get more experience with NoFap, especially in the real and outside world, I can't really speak to that.
One thing I noticed about NoFap so far is that it really makes you think about your future and your life more deeply and more seriously. Perhaps it doesn't guarantee that you will succeed (sooner or later), but it definitely compels you to start thinking both more creatively and realistically. If you sleep at night (which is better for your health), you might find that occasionally you'll have more thought-provoking, interesting, or even disturbing dreams. That's what happened to me at least three times while being on NoFap.
I highly recommend writing your dreams down and journaling about them. Referring to a dream dictionary, encyclopedia, or the Internet for dream interpretation can also be helpful. Dreams might offer a window to figuring out where you are in your life and how you might be able to improve. They can also offer you ideas for creative pursuits, art, etc.
I think one of the benefits of NoFap is that it awakens you to or reminds you of the reality that there is a lot more to life than just sensuality, carnality, or even just physical beauty. While those things have their place and aren't always bad, if you become a slave to them--if they become a compulsion or addiction or a crutch--then you are missing out on all that life has to offer.
Friendships and relationships are much more worthier goals than just masturbation and pornography. I think pornography and masturbation can function as subtitutes for real friendships and relationships. I believe that the longer one practices NoFap without relapsing, the more one increases one's chances of developing real friendships and relationships. (Of course, this means that I will have to start venturing out in the real world sooner rather than later.)
If you find interacting with the world to be overwhelming, then the important thing is finding a balance. NoFap helps you find better ways to cope with things that might usually frustrate or trigger you a lot more when you're not practicing NoFap. You get a better sense of when you need to take a break from something, and you actually do so. I find that I've become less angry, volatile, and hypersensitive since I've been on NoFap. Nevertheless, I think the supplements I've been taking have also helped (e.g. Relora, Vitamin B, etc.), but there is no doubt that NoFap is an additional and much-needed adjunct to supplementation and diet (i.e. no sugar, less or no caffeine/alcohol/politics/social media, Candida-free/Sattvic diet...).
I've also been doing cold showers about every second day. I usually start with warm water and then gradually make it colder. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with many urges or temptations this time around. Perhaps my sex drive is kind of low and/or I'm experiencing the dreaded, so-called flatline. I think this "flatline" (if that's what it is) should motivate me to keep going with NoFap because I'm sure there are better things to come if I don't relapse. I've also been exercising, and I feel that I should probably start exercising more.
All in all, I highly recommend NoFap regardless of where you are in life, but especially if you feel you're not as successful as you'd like to be [in your career, friendships, relationships, life project(s), etc.]. Good luck, and don't forget that nothing worth attaining comes easily. NoFap can be difficult and challenging at times (and so can meditation, exercise, cold showers, etc.), but I believe it's ultimately worth it.
I feel as if I'm just beginning life.
