The Last Letter
sometimes a letter can always console us

Every day, Anna would eagerly wait for the mailman to arrive, hoping to receive a letter from her husband who was serving in the army. But each day, her mailbox remained empty.
It had been weeks since she had heard from him, and the silence was becoming unbearable. She longed to hear his voice and know that he was safe. The only comfort she had was the last letter he had sent before he was deployed.
Anna clung to the letter like a lifeline. She read it every night before going to bed, memorizing every word he had written. It was a small piece of him that she could hold onto.
But one day, she received a letter that shattered her world. The letter was from the army, informing her that her husband had been killed in action. Anna felt as if her heart had been ripped out of her chest. She collapsed on the floor, tears streaming down her face.
As she sat there, numb and alone, she remembered the last letter he had sent. It was the only thing she had left of him. She clutched it tightly and read it again, hoping that it would bring her some comfort.
But this time, she noticed something she hadn't before. In the corner of the envelope, there was a small, handwritten note that she had missed. It was from her husband.
"Anna, my love," it read. "I don't know when I'll be able to write again, but I wanted to make sure that you knew how much I love you. You are the light of my life, and I can't wait to hold you in my arms again. Please don't worry about me. I'll be home before you know it. I love you more than words can express."
Anna's heart swelled with love and grief as she read the note. She realized that her husband had written the note before he was deployed and had slipped it into the envelope without her knowing. It was as if he had known that he wouldn't be able to write again.
She held the letter to her chest, tears streaming down her face. The last letter he had sent had brought her comfort, but this small note brought her peace. She knew that her husband loved her until the very end and that his love would always be with her.
From that day on, Anna kept the last letter and the small note with her at all times. It was a reminder of the love she had shared with her husband and the sacrifice he had made for their country.
And though she would never be able to hold him again, she knew that his love would always be with her, in the last letter and the small note that he had left for her.
As time passed, Anna slowly began to heal from the loss of her husband. She surrounded herself with family and friends, but she never forgot the last letter and the small note that had brought her so much comfort.
In the years that followed, Anna continued to live her life and cherish the memories of her husband. She would visit his grave every year on their anniversary and lay flowers by his headstone. But she always felt as if a part of her was missing.
Then, one day, something miraculous happened. Anna was walking through the park, lost in thought, when she heard a voice that she thought she would never hear again.
"Anna, my love," the voice said.
Anna turned around, and there he was. Her husband, standing before her, alive and well.
She was overwhelmed with emotion, tears streaming down her face. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly as if she would never let go.
Her husband explained that he had been captured by the enemy and held captive for years. He had managed to escape and had made his way back to her.
As they walked hand in hand through the park, Anna couldn't believe that her dreams had come true. Her husband was alive, and they were together again.
That night, as they sat together in their home, Anna pulled out the last letter and the small note. Her husband read them both and held her hand tightly.
"I never stopped loving you," he said. "And I never will."
Anna smiled through her tears, knowing that they had been given a second chance at love. She had held onto the last letter and the small note for so long, and now they were together again.
From that day on, Anna and her husband lived their lives to the fullest, grateful for every moment they had together. They knew that they had been given a gift, a gift of love that would never fade. And they never forgot the last letter and the small note that had brought them so much comfort and had brought them back to each other.
