By Mia MoralesPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

Planning a wedding is non-stop stress, even smaller weddings. There are a lot of details to prepare for, including guests, locations, paperwork and vendors. The stress of combining families and making sure everyone is happy can make even the calmest person a little crazy. Thankfully, there are plenty of tricks you can try to help you keep your head clear before you make that walk down the aisle.

Delegate Responsibilities

Once you are ready to start wedding planning, start delegating. Choose easy tasks to ask your friends and family to help you get some items off your list right away. For example, you can have your groom take charge of his guest list, groomsmen and the marriage license. As the wedding planning progresses, you can ask your wedding party and family to help you find items you’ll need such as decorations or items for gift bags for your out of town guests. On the day of, have someone you trust manage vendor payments, to ensure all you have to worry about is saying “I do” and starting your new life with your love.

Eat Healthy

When you are going through a stressful period, it is easy to let your diet slide. However, poor eating habits can cause you health problems and affect how your body reacts to stress. Fill your diet with foods rich in magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B. Eating meals with fruits, berries, beans, nuts and vegetables will help give your body an extra boost. Additionally, adding a hormone balance supplement can help you lower stress and stay healthy. Be sure to drink plenty of water to help you stay hydrated. As a bonus, a healthy diet will help you look that much better as you walk down the aisle.

Get an Outlet

You are going to need to give yourself an outlet for your stress. If you don’t have one, this pressure can build up and cause other issues down the road. Whether you practice yoga, keep a journal, or even take a self-defense course, finding a way to mitigate your stress can help you manage while wedding planning. Be sure to choose an activity or outlet that you can have access to whenever you are stressed. The last thing you need is to be searching for relief and unable to get to it. Finally, don’t forget to communicate with your partner when you are stressed to help you find solutions together.

Work with Your Planner

If you are hiring a planner, you need to be working with them. There are a variety of types of planners that assist you at various stages. Before you choose, think about what services you will need and how soon you want to have a helping hand. When you meet, have a list ready for what you want to know. Additionally, take the time to get to know their personality to see if it matches yours. Once hired, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when needed. They are there to support you in getting you the wedding of your dreams. Remember, your planner is on your side and ready to help.

Take Breaks

Planning a wedding requires a lot of time and consideration, but you have to take breaks so it doesn’t consume you. This could be in the form of date nights with your partner, no wedding talk, or unplugging yourself from the world for a spa day. Taking the time away from wedding planning and focusing on other things, will help you get a fresh perspective on the process. Don’t be afraid to make yourself a priority and give yourself time off from the stress. Before you unplug, you may want to let those around you know, so they can be patient and respect your much-needed break.

Your wedding is going to be amazing. Take care of yourself, and be sure to give yourself a break. You've got this.
