A brief look at the third chakra

By Slgtlyscatt3redPublished 10 months ago 4 min read
The solar plexus chakra, also known as the Manipura, is the third chakra.

The third chakra, or solar plexus chakra, is located between the navel and the solar plexus, and is associated with the color yellow. The third chakra deals with concerns of self-esteem, strength, and power. Because this chakra deals with issues of self-esteem, it is related to issues of personal strength and confidence. Situations where you might need this confidence might be a struggle for you if you have an imbalance in your solar plexus chakra. In addition, those with eating disorders, mental health disorders, or body image disorders might benefit from strengthening their solar plexus chakra, as this may help to boost their self esteem.

Functions:

The solar plexus chakra is related to strength, so in the body, this chakra is most commonly associated with the digestive system and the adrenal glands. If you are feeling ill in these areas of your body, it might very well be that you have a blockage in your third chakra.

In regard to emotional strength, the solar plexus chakra works on two levels. Firstly and most importantly, this chakra gives you confidence and the courage to get through situations that you might find frightening at first; it's what gives you the extra push to face your toughest adversities. You have a greater appreciation for yourself and your capabilities, and with this strength, you can accomplish many of your goals. In addition, those who have a strong energy in their solar plexus chakra are very healthy and active. They take the time to care for themselves and remain fit and active. These people are more likely to be involved in sports and other activities that keep them strong and in good health.

Your Self-Worth:

Those who have a strong energy in the solar plexus chakra have a strong self-esteem and high self-worth. This is an important characteristic to have, and many people often struggle with these issues their whole life. It is important, particularly if you have mental health issues or a low self-esteem, to really focus on this chakra. Self-care is a vital and important part of your daily routine, and it shouldn't be ignored. Focusing on the third chakra can help people in these lacking areas gain a better sense of self.

I like to imagine my inner light as the golden sunshine. This visualization can help you focus on your third chakra.

Chakra Imbalances:

If you have an imbalance in the solar plexus chakra, odds are that you might be feeling weak, sluggish, and unmotivated to complete tasks. You might have a low self-esteem and little confidence in your abilities and skills. If you are dealing with this, it is also possible that you are dealing with some health complications in this area of your body, such as issues related to digestion and the liver. If you are struggling with this area of your life, you might not be able to keep a job or complete a project you are supposed to be working on. With that being said, it is important that you do something to balance this, because your solar plexus chakra is arguably one of the most important chakras; it provides the basis for your motivation and your ability to complete day-to-day tasks. For persons with ADHD and issues with executive functioning, that makes it CRUCIAL to always be taking care of this aspect of yourself.

How to Balance Your Solar Plexus Chakra:

Find a quiet place to meditate and surround yourself with the color yellow. You might consider using a chakra poster or image as a visual for you to focus on during your meditation. Guided audio meditations are also helpful when focusing on your solar plexus chakra. Take a deep breathe slowly and exhale slowly. As you inhale and exhale, focus on bringing the air deep down all the way to your navel, and then back up through the throat and out of your body. Feel the bright, energizing, yellow orb of light within you rising up in you like warm sunshine. Focus on your navel and solar plexus. As you meditate, use the following positive affirmations to help guide you in your reflection:

-I am a confident and capable person

-I am strong and independent

-I am healthy and active

-I care about my body and my health

-I take time every day to take care of myself

-I am happy with the person that I am

If you want to enhance your experience, use yellow crystals such as citrine to place around you during your meditation. The energy from the crystal is said to help focus you more intently on the meditation.

Be Confident In Yourself!

The most important thing to take away from all of this is that without the energy from your solar plexus chakra, you would have no motivation and no self-esteem. It is important for you to trust yourself and your decisions in your every day life. Be confident with what you are doing, and be happy with the person that you are. Even if you are struggling in many areas of your personal life, think about how strong and capable you are for getting yourself to where you are today.

If you are reading this article, you are already making a positive impact in your own life by believing in yourself and seeking motivation to improve. Be confident with yourself, and all things that had once seemed impossible are now possible. If you are confident in yourself and your abilities, you will have more strength in your solar plexus chakra and in your quality of life. Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything you set your mind to. The solar plexus chakra teaches us that we all have this inner strength, and that we should each use our unique qualities to inspire the lives of others every single day.
