Why intermittent fasting is the best way of losing weight
My experience says it’s effective, you see immediate results, but it’s not for everyone
Intermittent fasting is an easy, natural, and rewarding way of shedding some extra weight. It’s not a diet. It doesn’t involve calorie counting, food restrictions, or unsustainable diet programmes. You only need determination, common sense when choosing your foods, and instead of large portions opt for moderate ones.
If you do intermittent fasting for a while, making it a habit, it becomes a lifestyle. If you can do this and combine it with some moderate daily exercise, you will never put on weight again. In fact, I think it’s the best way to stay fit and healthy in the long run with little to no effort.
I know intermittent fasting is great for losing weight, changing eating habits, and overall feeling better, lighter, healthier, and more focused with a clear mind. In other words, intermittent fasting makes me feel fabulous. If you choose to follow this path, I hope it will make you feel energised. fabulous as well. fabulous, too!
Intermittent fasting is very easy. You can see results as quickly as after one week. All you need to do is to choose your fasting window. Your fasting window is where you are allowed to eat your meals. Out of those hours, you will fasting.
If you are new to intermittent fasting (IF), you may choose to start with a 12:12 fasting window. That means, you eat during 12 hours of your day and you fast the other 12 hours. This is easy because from those 12 hours fasting you will be sleeping at least 8 hours. You can choose when you start your eating window and when you start your fasting window depending on your lifestyle and schedule.
After a week or two of 12:12, you can move to 8:16. This is perhaps the most common and the one I have followed most of the time. This means you have an eating window of 8 hours and you fast for 16 hours (you will sleep 8 of those hours).
Some people choose to do 6:18 and I know some who do 4:20 but they do this only for two or three days as a fast detox once a month. Very few times I have done a 4:20 and to do that I personally need to be way too relaxed and devoted only to that detox in a kind of retreat. As I said before, my preferred window is 8:16.
It’s important that you eat a good amount of protein. I choose to eat my proteins in the mornings sometimes but some other times I eat my proteins as the last meal before my fasting window. It depends on you and your preference but also what works best for you. You need to experiment. Try one day to eat a breakfast that includes protein (eggs, for example), and the next day eat the proteins in your last meal.
In your eating window you can eat anything you want but be mindful. Watch your portions and don’t eat a bag of McDonald’s plus Doritos, plus cheesecake, plus soda, plus pizza. However, you could eat one of those, say, one and only one slice of cheesecake with a cup of coffee or tea. That could be your teatime meal.
Choose eggs at least once a day as part of your protein. An omelette or scramble eggs with mushrooms and a slice of brown bread or rye bread works great for breakfast. Eat veggies and fruit.
In your fasting window you can drink unlimited water, tea, and coffee without sugar. I use some honey, though, because it’s healthy, natural, I like it, and this is not about restrictions, which is why I like intermittent fasting.
As long as you respect your fasting window, you can eat what you like in your eating window. That’s all the secret. Make sure you go for a 20 to 30 minute daily walk at least to complement the IF new habit. Or do some exercise indoors if the weather is not ideal, like in winter.

I do intermittent fasting, but not intentionally, lol. I have my dinner at 7.30pm and then my breakfast the next day is at 7am. So it just happens for me hehehe
