Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of my own decisions.

A rational-emotional approach to making decisions while being a flawed human, living with anxiety and probably some image issues. Sorry about that mate, I know how it feels.

I am not a fan of making decisions. I sometimes wish life was a rollercoaster that you never get to leave. No stop signs that make you look left or right, no traffic lights to give way , no cross walks that give you pause. Sometime I just want to be head-in, guns-blazing, take-no-man-alive.

But that’s not how life works, as I've been told numerous times by my driving instructor.

And then it hits you and it hits you so badly that you need to stop and take stock, catch you breath. There are decisions to be made and they will not wait for you. I have found that not making a decision in itself, is the decision.

So, I looked for a way to conceptualize this into something palpable that could help me get through this process more easily by using my rational mind, my instinct and my dreamer-like qualities. It took me some years and I still forget to do this sometimes buuut in light of my forever changing life, I can safely say: this will give you some peace of mind.

Pause here, and take a breath. Look at the picture below and remember what this would mean to you, peace.

Did you look at those flowers? They’re brilliant, aren’t they? And so are you.

So let's just get this started:

Think of one dreadful thing that's been on your to do list for some time. The first unmade decision that came to your mind, that one. Use that for this exercise.

You already ticked my first step: recognize something that needs further analysis.

2.Make a list of potential roads to take.

I want you to add on that list all the probable and improbable methods of action.

Let’s take an example:

You decide that you would like to expand your business. You do not know how to move forward so you start a list with potential roads:

- reach out to charities that could use your contacts, this will put you in the public eye and depending on the revenue you bring and the donations you create, you could get you a nice tax return (depending on where your business is based; check with your local council). 📧

-go to workshops and pitch your already successful ideas to other businesses and sell your intellectual property through an Apprenticeship service. ™

-research a different sector of your industry that could become an extension of your already existing business. 🧠

-create a meetup for your existing clientele to gather opinions and ideas while also liaising and schmoozing the money people. 🤝🏻

-sell your soul to Mammon, the daemon of wealth and prosperity 😐

You can kinda see where I’m heading with this.

Brain dump EVERYTHING. It’s a way of getting rid of all the anxiety related to the well known fear of the unknown. Buga-buga-buga.

By writing all your ideas you are focusing your energy on something real, something visible and you are making space in that cute, smart noggin (🧠) of yours.

Remember: an idea will remain an idea if you don’t put any effort behind it. Writing is most often the first step towards achieving something.

By putting all your good ideas on paper you are actually telling your brain: Hey, I got this. I got a thousand ideas, one better that the other. And some really bad ones, cause I'm human and I have flaws!

By adding the delirious rants of a mind emptied of great ideas you are acknowledging that most of these ideas won’t work.

And before you give me those beautiful rolling eyes of yours, give me a sec to explain.

You only need one to work out for you. One. But your brain in overload will want to think of million ways of where your focus should go. Don't let your energy be spread too thin... Your life is worth more than that.

You’re welcome you wonderful ray of sunshine you!

By including your strange ideas, you will get the peace of mind of having thought things through.

You will mostly know when you are out of ideas when you get to selling your soul to a Daemon.

If you only have one good idea before getting to the really bad ones... it's time you hit the books cause you need more information.

But decisions are inherently creative because you are bringing something new into existence, so play with that idea a bit.

Now,

How do I know which one is the right one?

Well…. You take a break… You take a seat… You take your shoes off and ground them on the floor.

You put on some Wordless music and imagine yourself going through each and every one of your options. I recommend something like: It's raining outside and Claire de Lune plays on the loop for 1 hr.

First you will go through the rational path: check what is feasible, what is the hardest path and what would be the easiest path, where would you need external help and what you could do on your own and rank them accordingly.

Now we go through the emotional path:

Look at your list:

Which one makes you smile?

Which one makes you stiff?

Which one makes you excited?

Notice the body sensations that you feel. Do you feel any pain in the body? Be a detective of your own imagination and body. This will help you get to a right answer faster.

And most importantly, which one makes you feel sad?

I have come to learn that there is no wrong choice, all of you can never be anything less and nothing less than what you are. You hold all of answers and possible outcomes in the tip of your fingers while still burning hot with potential.

It just depends how you use it and which road feels best to you, NOW.

We need to look at both sides. We cannot do what is rational and what seems right from a worldly perspective when our innards are screaming BLOODY MURDER. We need to find the middle ground and learn how to compromise. Our soul and mind really want to communicate and we are the facilitators of that.

And be kind to yourself, even if you think you made the “wrong” decision.

Oh yeah and also, total disclaimer… I take full responsibility for nothing that I say and I am fully committed to grow and to change my mind every time that I can . You can quote me on that.
