You can train your mind the same way you would train your body to thrive and be healthy. This is insight meditation and Vipassana. Vipassana means "to see things as they are". Vipassana, or insight meditation, helps us see past all that clutters our mental space, such as worrying about the future, feeling bad over the past, and following after what we want. The body and mind are then viewed in a completely new light. This can be helpful in overcoming anxiety and depression. Intuition meditation allows us to have more control over our lives, allowing us to live the life we desire. This can lead to a sense of peace and compassion for others. Vipassana, one of the oldest methods of meditation from India, is one such technique. It was rediscovered by the Buddha over 2500 years ago and has been passed on through a long line of teachers. Ms. S.N. Ms. S.N. Over the last decade, Vipassana has attracted more and more people. The Vipassana Foundation, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to spreading Buddhist Vipassana teachings around the world. Vipassana's goal is to provide insight that can be used for liberating the mind. These insights collectively are known as the "three marks of humanity" and include knowledge of impermanence and suffering and non-self. The insight of impermanence is the realization that phenomena are temporary. The insight of suffering refers to the realization that suffering can be caused by people trying to hold on to things that are temporary. The insight of nonself is the realization that the notion of a permanent self can only be a lie.
While all Buddhists have heard about the three characteristics, knowledge is not sufficient. Vipassana is about having an actual experience with these characteristics. This will result in a fundamental shift in the way the person views the world and handles life. The idea is that people can only give lip service to these three aspects of life if they don't have any real insight. Humans are unable to see the truth of life because of their normal thinking patterns. The truth is possible to be seen when the world can be viewed without mental filters. For someone struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, this insight can be a powerful tool.
Vipassana, a Pali word that means "to see reality as it is", is the Pali word for meditation. This non-sectarian meditation technique aims to eliminate mental impurities, liberate practitioners and bring true happiness. Gautama Buddha discovered it over 2500 years back and was popularized by many people, including S.N., Vipassana meditation instructor. Goenka, who established the Dhamma dipa centre in Hereford, where I was born, is still my host.
"Most of us are preoccupied with avoiding distress and anxiety. We seek pleasure, gratification. So, surviving a 10-day lesson in Vipassana will be challenging. It could be argued, to a certain extent, that meditation is transcendental in its nature. It aims at discovering the truth behind the ego and mind. However, there are many ways to get there.

Meditation and mindfulness are often seen as tools for relaxation and stress reduction in the West. These things can be seen as side effects of meditation, but they are not meant to be the end goal. Vipassana can help you relax and relieve stress, but also deepen your inner self.
