A Pharmaceutical Nightmare
In an hour, minutes would have passed in her mind. It confused her that everything was normal, but she was being stared at in fright. She lay there weak, weary from the hours passed, no memory, mind blank. The apathy she felt for the first time all day cleansed her heavy soul because her body could bear the burning anger no longer. As the exhaustion only further set in, she came to understand the fright in her family’s eyes as she discovered the altered environment. The scattered furniture and mysterious bruises on her skin were evidence that this was the bed she made, and guilt would soon transpire.

Dear God, I am feeling so lost right now. I know in my heart and soul, with every ounce of my being, with every cell in my body, that you have a purpose for me. You raised us from where we were and transplanted us here. This was not in vain. This was not without reason. I know without a doubt that you have something wonderful and truly remarkable in store for me and my girls. I can feel it so strongly. You are calling me to something bigger and greater than myself. I just do not know what that thing is. I want to do your will to fulfill my purpose, this mission that you have for me. Yet, I do not know where to begin. I know that we are meant for something bigger than this. I need you to show me what direction I am supposed to go because I am but a simple human. Please guide me. Please show me the way. Please send me a clear sign so that I know without a doubt what it is you are asking of me. What is it exactly that I am supposed to be doing right now? I am ready. Please reveal it to me. Please give me the resources needed to fulfill it. I know that I will not reach my full potential and that my life will lack meaning until you allow me to fulfill this mission you have meant for me. I am tired of trying to figure it out on my own. I am tired of racking my brain trying to figure out what it is for myself. Please show me how to make this clear desolate land flourish. Please show me what to do with this path that you have cleared for us. Please show me where it leads. I’m ready to listen. I’ve been listening. I’ve proven that I am listening. I know that my soul will only feel at ease when I am reassured by you about what direction I should be taking just as before. I was so scared and so unsure, but you continuously gave me signs of what direction I should be taking. I took them all. You have opened one door after the other for us. You led us here. Why Only The World Fair enough, why only the world covers? That is one of the options I have for you now. I have worked in schools for quite some years now and understand the kind of problems that await to solve at the school level. No one is denying the fact that all schools across the globe have the same problems. But we need to understand that our country isn’t different from any other country in the world. If you are from Pakistan, you will be able to understand the problems faced by these people in other countries as well. I am sure it will be no problem to you to translate these two lines into other languages like Dutch, Spanish, Greek, French etc. As I said earlier, we need to understand that there are so many problems all over the world and not just in Pakistan.

Are Rights A Lot. Or… Not Really. Can you explain why that specific shareholder is owed the right to make a claim against the company? You seem to say it is simply because they bought some shares, but doesn’t it go beyond that? If they bought the shares, they bought a right to those shares in any case, so if they sold those shares before going to court, they are just having a change of plan and owning shares that belong to someone else (and therefore they should have no rights).

Are Why Questions Bad? A typical discussion in education circles is that a good pedagogy would present the students with multiple explanations of why certain choices are good. A good pedagogy would show the student why given the limited amount of time a student has in the school day, learning math should be the school’s priority. But as a professor in educational leadership in my graduate school days in the early 1970s, I experienced the opposite. I remember a discussion with a team of faculty from a prominent university teaching the civil rights era civil rights movement. They were discussing what was appropriate to do with the students in their classes. I argued for such a discussion. One of the professors said to me that he disagreed that the civil rights era was an example of the power of positive motivation. I could not argue with that. Yet a moment later he said to me, in effect, that it was pointless to discuss why civil rights workers would have worked without earning money. That was his reason for not discussing the facts and reasons. I was puzzled. So I asked the professor, “Didn’t some civil rights workers receive money in order to complete their assignments?” He replied, “Of course, but not all of them worked on behalf of the civil rights movement for that money. If they did, the students would question them and doubt the positive motivation. They would learn that a good civil rights movement requires money and not necessarily positive motivation.” I was shocked. He did not want to explain his understanding of why a civil rights movement would be immoral and not helpful to students. I had never seen such a discussion in a university education program.
