Repressed negative emotions affect our health and can lead to physical illness. Any emotion that has not been expressed causes an inner conflict, which is externalized by disease.

Scientists have estimated that in more than a third of cases, the cause of the physical symptoms of the disease is not viruses and bacteria, but stress, emotional trauma, and internal conflicts.

"It can be said that psychosomatic diseases are the pain and suffering of the soul, which have found no other way out than through the body. It is a cry of the soul "- says the psychologist Irina Kostina.

The most curious thing is that the psychological factor that caused the disease can be far away chronologically in time. That is, "in the beginning, there was a word", and the person was not aware of its importance until the time of the crisis. There is a time bomb in each of us.

Skin diseases

The skin is both a limit of the human body and an organ of it. She is the one who protects us and the one through whom we come into contact with the outside world. Through touch, we can convey affection and love.

The skin turns red when we are ashamed, becomes pale, and is covered in sweat when we are afraid. She betrays all our secrets.

Psychosomatic skin diseases are based on the "touch me, don't touch me" conflict. Somewhere in the depths of the soul, there may be repressed anger. Anger towards those who, by showing affection, have violated the permissible limits, or towards those who have rejected you.

For example, a hyper-protective mother caresses and hugs her child without taking into account the need for personal space. This type of behavior of the mother continues in a few years when the child has grown up.

The teenager cannot express his anger at his mother because she is affectionate and vulnerable. Therefore, when he experiences negative emotions due to his mother's behavior, he feels guilty for them. In such situations, dermatitis appears in adolescents.

Gastrointestinal disorders

The words "belly" and "life" go hand in hand. During feeding, the baby receives not only the mother's milk but also warmth, care, affection, pleasure, and comfort.

If the mother feeds him on time, the child feels loved, protected, and full of love for life.

A long feeling of hunger causes a person to be upset and then swallow everything greedily.

Just think how many feelings are associated with food! The spectrum of psychosomatic illnesses is enormous.

Bulimia - dissatisfaction, greed for food, as a metaphor for lack of love and security.

Anorexia - refusing to eat is a riot, a way to attract attention. The hunger strike is an expression of anger and resentment.

Respiratory diseases

Easy breathing is associated with freedom, ease, and satisfaction. A heavy breath - with anger and indignation. Breathless - with anger and indignation. Inspiration is filling. Expiration is emptying.

At the root of asthma is the conflict between the need for love and the fear of being rejected.

The need for support and love is strong, but it is suppressed because it threatens to "suffocate" the person. Likewise, anger is suppressed, because it can result in rejection. The asthmatic is somewhere in the middle, between exhalation and inspiration.

Heart disease

If the child has not been taught to constructively express his anger and indignation and to respect his values, he will tend to repress his anger to create the impression of a calm person.

"I want to be an authority in front of you, to control everything, including you. I'm very, very upset, but it wouldn't be decent to express my anger. I have to keep a good impression. So now I'm going to smile. " says the hypertensive patient. Not in words, but with the sphygmomanometer.

Metabolic and endocrine problems

The exchange processes inside the body take place unnoticed in the body. We only see the result: mood swings, drowsiness, or dynamism.

Detecting the pathology of exchange processes is one of the most difficult tasks because the "exchange process" itself does not cause pain.

The most common diseases in this spectrum are diabetes, hypo-, and hyperfunction of the thyroid gland.

Hypothyroidism is manifested by fatigue, low attention span, and poor memory. The person suddenly ceases to be active. The reasons may be disappointment and rejection.

Hyperthyroidism is manifested by rapid heartbeat, sweating, and accelerated metabolism due to thyroid hormone.

It can be triggered by a lack of sense of security and safety from childhood.
