Good morning, and welcome to the September 8 edition of my Monday Morning Huddle!

Today, I bring you the lovely Rose of Sharon I photographed during a recent nature walk with my four-year-old grandson. I often look back through my pictures, admiring nature in print, and more often than not, I discover fresh insight into an old problem- inspiration found in subtleties, hidden messages jumping out, commanding my immediate attention.

When I captured my photo two weeks ago, I was immediately drawn to the single rose brushing up against a metal diamond-pattern fence. Initially, I thought to myself, what a beautiful sight; Sharon isn't dwindling in prison, she is on the brink of setting herself free. Of course, the actual flower isn't imprisoned at all; she sits on a front lawn guarded by a perimeter barrier.

Little did I know two weeks ago how much my in-the-moment thoughts would come back into play in the future- the future being NOW.

Relevant notes: full corn moon & total lunar eclipse

As you likely already know, the Full Corn Moon rose in the nighttime sky last evening, coinciding with a total lunar eclipse. If you live outside of the United States and had the pleasure of viewing a red-stained moon, I envy you. I imagine it was a lovely sight- crimson moon against a pitch black sky.

While science often debunks the moon's effects on humans, I highly disagree. In my opinion, moon energy is real. After all, if the moon can affect the weather and animals, then why not humans? Keeping this in mind, the weekend's energy was what I will call topsy-turvy for me. Emotional highs and lows, sudden spurts of energy followed by sleepiness, and a whirlwind of insights not all wrapped neatly with a pretty bow.

True of all full moons, the full corn moon symbolizes releasing things that no longer serve a purpose, with these added specifics: abundance, completion, gratitude, & harvest. Spiritually, as Summer transitions to Autumn, the full corn moon represents reflecting on accomplishments to date, the fruits of one's labor, and letting go of what is outdated as one prepares for seasonal change, energetically and personally.

Perhaps an energy double whammy, factoring in the lunar eclipse!

According to Cosmopolitan:

September’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces marks a key turning point, astrologically hinting that it’s time to take control of your own evolution.

Throughout the weekend, the Rose of Sharon image kept replaying in my mind, calling for reexamination. I obliged the inner call, dove in, and discovered a beautiful message I'd like to share, hoping it may provide some peace, a sense of direction, or perhaps some closure in an ongoing struggle.

The result: helped me wage an ongoing war within myself, aligning with the weekend's lunar activities.

Rose of Sharon Speaks

The message I received piggybacked off my initial thoughts upon capturing the Rose of Sharon on film.

"Sharon isn't dwindling in prison, she's on the brink of setting herself free," from my above text, prompted further study.

Little did I realize how much a passing thought would impact me two weeks later.

Hindsight tells me that I do this more often than I realize; I find profound meaning, missing pieces to a puzzle, so to speak, after a random thought, which, upon later discovery, tells me it wasn't as random as I had previously contemplated.

Rose of Sharon glowed beautifully, dressed in pink. She said, "I stand alone, behind these bars, but this isn't prison. I am on the brink--- brink of releasing myself from these caged dreams. The Discovery of life beyond these confines urges me to lean forward toward space I can't quite reach. A little effort will do, a little more each day, and stretching myself marks my growth from falsely planted roots within boundaries to freedom, where all that is nourished is fertile ground.

Inward attention

Think about it: how many times have you let dreams brood in cages, allowed your aspirations to linger in confined spaces, later regretting the notion to set them free?

Ask yourself:

  • What is holding me back?
  • What emotions am I feeling?
  • Why do I feel these emotions?
  • What one small thing can I do right now to implement change?
  • What do I need to release to give my dreams freedom?

The funny thing is, the cage isn't real. It's an illusion. A self-made prison, a container sealed tight, a boxed-in situation, banishment in the mind space, keeping dreams held hostage.

Think about it: how many times have you let dreams brood in cages, allowed your aspirations to linger in confined spaces, later regretting the notion to set them free?

Perhaps a nod to nature is due. Growth and plenty do not equal inner arguments, overthinking, or procrastination. Life simply goes on. True to cycles and all, but there is no room for hesitation. Things just are.

Food for thought, and words I swallow, as I navigate personal cages where dreams have dwelled far too long.

Rose of Sharon spiritual meaning

Geographically, "Sharon" refers to fertile land in Israel, land known for beauty and abundance, which adds to its spiritual meaning.

Christian theology interprets "Rose of Sharon" as a symbol of Jesus Christ, while others draw a parallel to the church, noting a divine garden and believers flourishing under his care.

The many-layered possibilities encourage personal interpretation, but deep biblical roots define an overall symbolism of spiritual growth and a life connected to God.

Perhaps a simplistic breakdown says it best.

Rose of Sharon represents endurance and resilience, spiritual fruitfulness, hope & humility.

Take away the meaning that works best and fully become the beautiful soul you are meant to be. Open the cage and set your dreams free. Even if right now you are unaware, you hold the key!

Metaphoric writing is one of my favorites paired with spiritual messages. It flows through me, feeling natural, and I am realizing that more so with each additional huddle edition I publish. Another way I view it is poetry pulsed by two partners, nature's nurture and spirit's guidance.

Whatever one may or may not choose to believe, I cannot and do not aim to sway one's mind. All I hope is that one might be open to an alternative perspective to everyday rationale, and be willing to indulge in my messages meant to offer a different path to the human experience.

Thanks for reading, and may everyone have a beautiful week!

No YouTube video this week. I am considering that Spotify may be a better platform for a person who wants to create faceless content. It's about my voice and the message, not my appearance or physical presence.

Always look forward to your Monday Morning Huddle. I'd definitely be interested in a Spotify podcast sort of thing if you decide to go that way!

  • Science debunks the effect of the moon on humans? I had no idea. I know that the moon is what controls oceans tides, seasons, earth's rotation, etc. So I thought its effect on humans are scientifically proven too. Wow, I don't understand why science debunks that Gosh, I just don't know how to manage to get such deep thoughts from one photo. You are so brilliant! And yes, I feel Spotify is definitely better for faceless content
