We are living in a pandemic. Words I never thought Id hear/say ever in my life. Living in a pandemic is HARD. The media tells us one thing and people start acting out of fear. They emptied the shelves in the stores. Gave people problems for not wearing a mask. Think that every cough/sneeze is from Covid-19. This has become the new "norm" for our society. Covid-19 has changed our lives dramatically. There is so much anxiety due to Covid. If I leave my house, will I contract the virus? If we all have to stay home do I have to stock up? What if people empty the shelves before I can get food and things I need for my house? Will we have to stay home? How will we get through this? If I can't wear a mask, how will I shop? How will I work? Will people stare at me or yell at me for not wearing a mask? It's allergy and cold and flu season. If I get sick will people think I have the virus? How will they act towards me? There are so many things society has to worry about now.
A few things I think that will really help society with those worries at this time. Is for us to all stay calm, positive and try not to judge others so much. The more we try to work together and stay positive. The better things will be. Also try to remember that when you leave your house, as long as you do what is best for you (I.E. washing hands, keeping distance, wearing your face covering if you can). The chances of you catching the virus will be lower. Another thing to remember is, not everyone can wear a mask. So try to stay positive and don't judge others when you see them not wearing a mask. I have gone into a couple places and have had people give me a problem because I'm not wearing a mask. I have reasons on why I can't wear a mask, and I remind those people, that they have their mask on, I don't have the virus and they should be okay. I know I am not a doctor, but having been tested for the virus and it being negative. I am confident enough to say to someone that they should be okay. Some places I go into wearing a face shield. I still get problems for that as well. A face shield covers my face more than the mask does covering the face of the person having a problem with my shield. The shield at least allows me to breathe better. I know I’m not the only one who has faced these problems as well.
There are probably a good amount of people who have the same reasons as me on why they can’t wear a mask. I know it’s hard for them. If you are one of those people. Please don’t hesitate to kindly tell someone. Hey I can’t wear a mask due to health issues that I face. I will keep my distance from you and can ensure you that I take every other precaution that is needed to make sure you and I are protected.
If you are one of those people that can wear a mask. Please be a bit more understanding to those who can’t. We understand you need to work, or you need to shop for things you need. But please remember, we do too. I get people are nervous, but as long as we are kinder, more understanding and less judging of others. The pandemic would be a little easier and would leave people with less worries.
