New Year's Resolutions: Losing Weight
So you want to lose weight this year...here we go again

It’s the beginning of a new year filled with dreams, goals and hopes to throw away those old habits! For numerous people, these hopes include throwing away a few pounds. The resolution has become so popular, people who frequently exercise have started working out from home at the beginning of the year to avoid crowds (even in the middle of a pandemic). Though many tend to slip in the first few weeks of their process, here are a few tips for those who are serious about a strong start on their weight-loss journey this year.
1. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Weight doesn’t just melt off your body (unless you have a phenomenal doctor), so be patient with yourself and don’t hop on the scale every morning before you start your day. There is no reason to weigh yourself more than once a week.
Weighing yourself too often can lead to discouragement, anxiety or even disordered eating.
2. Keep a weight-loss journal.

Losing weight is a JOURNEY, especially for those who struggle with it, so keep a journal. Talk about what you ate throughout the day and how it made you feel. Log the exercises you did during your workout and how much weight you lifted as a reference for when you believe it’s time to take things to the next level.
This is also a great place to keep your before and after photos!
3. Don’t just jump, bring a parachute!

Your parachute is the research you gather before you jump into your weight-loss journey. Yes, losing weight is about staying in a caloric deficit, but not about running on a treadmill until you pass out or trying only to eat one meal a day. Most of your weight-loss happens in the kitchen and it doesn’t have to be boring. Different strategies work for everyone, so I’ve linked a few favorites below:
1. Custom Keto – This one is my favorite because it takes all the biggest and most important factors into consideration, such as your gender, age, height, current and goal weight. Plus, it dives further than most by gathering data about your daily activity and what meats, vegetables and other foods you prefer.
2. Keto Resources – This collection and story is very helpful, especially if you’re fresh on your weight-loss journey. The best part is, if you aren’t seeing results after the first 28-day challenge, you get your money back. I’ll be honest, I got so lost in how good the meals were that I forgot to cancel my subscription…
4. Get enough sleep.

Most of the time people are so focused on being active to lose weight, they forget about the time your body needs to balance all the hormones that go into healthier and faster weight-loss. The older you get, the more sleep you need (about 7 to 9 hours for everyone).
5. Don’t keep demons in your circle.

Those little snacks that are in the pantry or laying on your counter are more powerful than you think. They are indeed little demons. The easier the access, the more likely you will give into temptation. If you live with other people that eat unhealthy snacks, encourage them to keep those little demons out of sight because who wants to be the downfall of someone’s progress?
The answer: Just another demon.
6. BE SAFE

My only goal here is to help you focus, plan and execute your personal weight-loss goals for 2021. After years of watching, we all know there are tons of people running the race, but only a few will prepare for it. So, grab your parachute and jump into the new year safely strapped in for success!
