PASADENA, CALIFORNIA— We all know that an active lifestyle plays a critical role in healthy living. In fact, research shows that a sedentary lifestyle can even be deadly. A 2015 study linked sitting for prolonged periods of time to an increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, cancer and early death. For the co-founder of YZY Global LLC, the fight against life-threatening diseases like cancer is a personal one.

“My grandfather lived to the age of 97, so I was shocked when my father was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 67 and passed away four years later,” stated Vicky Butler of YZY Global, LLC.

According to Butler, it was the death of her father that inspired to get more involved in cancer-fighting organizations and eventually launch her very own business focused on improving the health of individuals worldwide. After years of research, Butler invented from scratch the Porter Stepper™, a portable leg exerciser, and officially launched her company, YZY Global LLC, in mid-January 2017.

“I’m really excited. This has been a long time coming,” stated Butler. “After spending countless hours perfecting our product design, we are finally ready to present our patented, portable mini stepper to the world.”

The Porta Stepper™ is a compact, lightweight, and portable leg exerciser that can be used anywhere, anytime while seated. Its sleek design keeps a person’s legs moving and blood flowing even when sitting still. It also burns calories and tones the leg muscles with minimal effort. The portable exerciser allows users to stay fit practically anywhere without having to change their daily routine.

“It is especially beneficial for people who have a hard time moving around due to an injury or physical disability. It’s also great for those who don’t have a lot of time to exercise due to a busy lifestyle or spend a lot of time in front of a computer,” stated Butler. “We firmly believe that ‘preventing an illness is better than cure’ and ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.’”

After having surgery on her left ankle several years ago, Butler benefited from her own invention—especially in the prevention of blood clots. On average, one person dies every six minutes from a blood clot, according to the National Blood Clot Alliance. However, simple exercises like walking or using the Porta Stepper™ for leg stretching can help reduce the risk.

“Following surgery, my left leg tended to swell a lot after sitting for a long period of time, such as long-distance travel on an airplane,” explained Butler. “After learning that swelling was also a symptom of blood clots, I decided to take this matter seriously.”

Along with the death of her father, her injury served as a driving force behind the invention of Porta Stepper™. To help with the swelling, she created the medical device and found that it not only improved her blood flow but her energy levels, too.

“From that moment, I continued to do market research, make prototypes, apply for the patents, do market testing, make molds and get a sample from the manufacturer, design the packaging, and set up the website,” stated Butler.

The rest, as they say, is history. Currently, the Porta Stepper™ is available for an introductory pre-order price of $49.99. In the coming months, Butler will also launch a Kickstarter campaign to help her company reach its minimum order and attract additional attention from buyers and retailers.
