Mirror Dragon Tarot Free Weekly Reading #22
Reading for 5-11 thru 5-17-20

Out of the flames and into a balance of three. After facing the fire that burned away the shrouds and fetters of unrealistic and unnecessary actions, expectations, perceptions and more, we now face a week of thoughtful panning and the planting of seeds for new growth. Here in Maine, the blueberry fields are burned clear every other year, a practice learned from Native Americans, to increase crop yield. Burning, or thermal pruning, eliminates insects, diseases and other competitive plant species and allows the blueberries' underground runners to thrive. Now that the energy of last week’s fiery Wands has uncovered the fertile ground below we can see where to nurture and encourage growth.
The Center card this week is the Princess of Pentacles.
This princess represents the human experience of the Pentacles suit in its most innocent and unprepossessing. The princesses are often like children, open to new experiences and possibilities, holding no judgements or preconceived ideas and the Pentacles speak of our resources; time, money, energy and our physical body. The discs help us recognize the physical reality of our ideas and desires. They help us incorporate feelings of comfort and stability into our everyday experience. They help us to see the reality, the doability we often miss with the airy Swords, the watery Cups and the fiery Wands. Though the princesses can also be silly and naive given their lack of experience, the missteps and blunders they make give a broader education and a more varied understanding of what they’ve begun to learn and establish.
The West card is the 4 of Swords.
The fours of the tarot are cards of stasis, rest, recuperation and reevaluation. Growing up, I loved the calm, clear air after a summer thunderstorm. It always gave me the sense that everything around me had been cleansed. In the case of the four of Swords, it seems that the storm of thoughts, memories, ideas, societal pressures, dealing with big changes and all the things our minds have been struggling with have slowed. For me, this card in this spot feels like a truce. For the early part of the week we get a chance to take a break, take a step back and look at what’s going on in our lives. The Swords bring understanding. It may not be understanding we like or agree with but intellectually we can clearly see the undercurrents beneath and scaffolding around the events we encounter. We see the whys of what’s happening and, hopefully, also the practicalities. There is a clarity of purpose to see if we choose to.
The East card is the 6 of Wands.
Yeah..., more fire but the sixes are cards of balance and implementation. With the six of Wands we see the uses and opportunities for the fire of creative intent. Fire is about doing and active change. We’ve seen what fire can reveal. Even if the experience was damaging, (emotionally or otherwise) we see what can be cleansed, exposed, annealed and formed when fire is used with clear intent and the knowledge gained with experience. Fiery energy can be a powerful tool to mold and combine thoughts and ideas into action. Sometimes things need to be heated up to respond to intended desires. The alchemy of creative thought. Like when brewing a cup of tea, the heat of the water changes the tea leaf, it breaks down the structure of the leaf so that the tea is infused into the water. When our intention heats up the energy around us changes and an infusion of that intent is possible.
In conclusion;
This week looks to be one of recognition, evaluation and action. The stasis we experience in the early part of the week allows us to take a breather and think about what we’ve discovered, the clear, healthy ground we have to sow and the sense of action and determination needed to put ideas and plans into motion. Early in the week we’re given the opportunity to see our own skill, our own ability to make things happen. At midweek and likely the rest of the week as well, the energy is that of feeling a need to nurture our ideas and plans with the fire at week’s end lighting up our passion and determination to get moving and accomplish goals.
Have a calm and pensive week!
Light, Tory
