Meditation. Baby Steps
Part of a Mystic's Drift in Societal Whoas Series

Well, it seems apparent if one is going to venture on a meditation path or at least a trial period, do not prep yourself by reading about meditation on online media unless the person writing is enlightened and has gone through a whole awakening.
Whether or not to approach this topic within the dilemma of online competition for reads. Therefore, I read a few articles to see what is out there. Sadly disheartened, I immediately sprang my fingers across the keyboard. My, my, I have something to offer here, ego not standing.
Meditation is not like an adventure on a sailboat. It is a studious pursuit; approach it like a personal study or not at all. It’s simple. If not something you think you would like, then don’t do it. There should be a desire to because it fits with you.
So far, I have read about a person’s experience on a two-week organized journey through a specific path of meditation and though humorous at the start, struck by the shocking nature. Charm has many faces, this one smiling. Let there be acceptance of someone else’s experience. Next, I went to a similar article of an exact tone. Again, a newbie tried to grow some wings to enlightenment with no results. I stopped reading these at the suggestion that enlightenment doesn’t matter because we are not spiritual as natural beings. We are. Yet in our element of what human is in comparison.
So let’s start there. How about the suggestion that humankind is not part of nature! We are on this planet partly to adapt to nature, evidenced by being born with virtually no skills for survival and needing to learn based on environmental circumstances. Things of nature have wings to flee, foliage to hide in, water to breath in, and different body temperatures to acclimate. Humans have none of that. So the most crucial test is how we adapt. Do we destroy in order to, or do we help while teaching? I am trying to help here.
Take it a step further and consider that all this stress we experience, whether occasionally or consistently, equates to a reliance on adapting. Otherwise, the physiological effects of stress erode the body as time does. As a result, many people begin meditation to learn how to relax or destress.
Some people read or hear the words “connect with inner self,” and they are there. They know what that means. So it is an added effort to what already resonates with them.
Therefore some people are drawn to meditation while others learn to grow their wings in other ways. There are different forms of meditation, those you can explore.
I cannot express more sincerely that anyone can meditate. Perhaps with a little guidance at first to explain the technique. Or explain the philosophy behind it.
My experience was over nine years of meditating daily for hours, sometimes 8–10 hours a day, never less than 2 hours. I loved every perfect moment. It put me in complete harmony with existence. The experience was so encompassing I am writing a book about just that part.
Meditation and being spiritual is not the same thing. Some people believe they go hand in hand, but that is the case for some people. Some people are profoundly spiritual and never meditate. Some people meditate regularly and have no further interest in spiritual reasoning.
The Steps
The basis of meditation is a mantra. A word or phrase that is thought, mentally repeated, for a length of time. The mantra creates calm.
You can go to a guru who gives you a personal mantra and further instruction. You can also read about the different types of meditation. Broaden your awareness by learning about the topic.
I began with creative visualizations, which are slightly different. Then I did affirmations for about a year. I did that for years before my 9 meditative years. Find your groove. Explore those too.
When you choose to meditate, here is one word to repeat mentally, your mantra. It is the word Peace.
Sit quietly and comfortably in any position you wish and think the word Peace over and over again. Please do it for as long as you want, 10 minutes, half an hour or longer. There you have started.
Peace.
