How a Simple Dietary Change Resulted in Weight Loss and How I Did It
I went from active and eating well in high school to inactive and eating like a slob in college. I didn't think my weight would change so easily but it did. I would work out and eat healthier snacks but nothing changed, my weight kept growing. It wasn't until recently that I found my trigger. Sodas. It didn't dawn on me how much soda I drank in college. I was spending money on cherry cola and sprite from the campus machines like clockwork. I continued to drink sodas regularly after I walked away from college and my weight continued to climb. I felt sluggish and my mental health took a drastic nosedive. I'd go from not eating much to binging and it was at that moment that I realized how close I was to developing an eating disorder so I knew I had to make a change. I started with sodas and cut them out drastically with the exception of Sprite when I'm sick. Here's how I began my journey to being healthy.

The Reason Your Health Kick Isn't Working
It happens to the best of us - you see a photo of your goal body, see a healthy recipe you'd like to try, or just get fed up with being unhealthy, and go on a sudden 'health kick' to change every single habit you have in exchange for a healthier alternative. And, surprise surprise, it doesn't last longer than a few days, maybe a week if you're lucky. It's just not sustainable. Trying to kick one single bad habit or introduce a new healthy habit is hard enough, let alone entirely changing your lifestyle. It's hard to resist though; when you're in the mood to try and be healthy, you want to do it all. It doesn't feel worth it otherwise. But trust me, if you hold yourself back, that's how you stop yourself from getting burnt out and you can actually make progress.

Ending My Life-Long Yo-Yo Dieting by Addressing the Real Problem: What the Fitness Trainers and Diet Gurus Aren't Telling You
That’s my laundry basket (although as I was re-arranging my apartment it was clearly more like an impromptu trash can). And those are the three pints of ice cream I bought in a split-second decision at the grocery store a few months ago — despite being well into a healthy eating and exercise plan.

5 Reasons Caffeine is a Miracle Drug
You'd be hard pressed to find something tasty and popular in the drink aisle that isn't stuffed to the gills with caffeine. Sodas like Mountain Dew and Coca Cola (in their near infinite varieties) have their fair share of this stimulant, and it can be found in larger doses in energy drinks like Monster or Red Bull, which have carved out their own share of the drink market. Even tea and coffee, two of the most popular drinks in the world, have caffeine in them. It should be noted that while the world of cubicles and office work would no doubt grind to a halt without caffeine, science has proven that caffeine can be used as a medicine as well as a quick pick me up.

The Accident
The first thing I remembered seeing was her own reflection; a bruised and weary face from the car accident I had been in days ago. The bruises were deep and dark the pain seemed to be endless but the doctors were confident that she would recover in time. I had been in a coma for five days and was ready to go home now so only time would tell but time was all I had now. Why wasn’t my husband there to take her home? Why had he not been to the hospital? My mom couldn’t answer my questions but was very angry because he’d already used my bank account without permission.

Mirror Dragon Tarot Part 14
The Center card this week is the Aeon This card is one in the Thoth deck that differs quite a bit from the more popular Ryder Waite Smith system. Though it is similar in definition to the RWS card Judgement the symbolism steps away from the Christian paradigm and includes older symbolism which recognizes continuing multiple lifetimes. I see the Aeon card as a prompt to nudge our left-brain, cognitive mind to recognize the decisions and choices we make as they grow, and allow our experience to be born anew in any given moment. This pushes us to renew our intent on a continuing basis and, in this way, opens avenues for change we may not have noticed without the renewed interest. As the Death card reflects the cycle of rebirth from old to new and back again, I see the Aeon as a card of new birth. It highlights the constant changes we encounter as we move along the path of human, physical existence. As humans, we’re never static, there is constant movement, and the Aeon triggers us to see those changes as new birth and to take the action needed to accept the lessons we’ve been offered.
