Staying Healthy and Losing Weight in College

Put your mind to it and it will happen!

So I have had a lot of trouble with this in my years of college. I know what you are thinking, though: "I've tried everything and nothing works." I have too. But this semester I just had the mindset that "I'm going to lose weight." That's what I did. Most of it is the mindset. You have to believe in yourself or you are just going to give up the second that you don't see any differences. I used to think that if I just work out every day, I will lose weight. That's not the case. I haven't had a really hard workout in forever. You can't just workout and not change diet. You have to change your diet as well.

I walk around campus to classes and that helps a lot. I go to the gym when I can but that's not a lot of the time. It does help a lot to go to the gym depending on what you do at the gym. The simplest thing as walking a couple miles a day can help you lose weight faster. I use the elliptical as well as walking. The stair stepper helps too if you want to tone your butt and legs. You can even use the leg press to tighten your butt and legs. Your workout doesn't have to be complex to lose weight. If you want to focus on other parts of your body, then I would look into other exercises such as dumbbell workouts or swiss ball workouts. This will help a lot of different muscles in your body.

Along with working out you also need to change your diet. I am a picky eater so I don't like a lot of foods but this is the main part of losing weight. You can lose weight with just changing up your diet. I started drinking more water every day and found that I actually crave water now. I hated water before but now I can tell when I don't have it. I was a big soda drinker. That's all I would drink. I cut down to one soda a day and I lost a lot of weight. I also cut out a lot of my bad carbs. I eat wheat bread now and I really like it. I used to get chicken sandwiches instead of just chicken. Now, I order without the bun that way I'm not getting the bad carbs. I also started eating salad as well. It's a good way to get your greens in your system. Making morning shakes is also a good way to get your daily fruits and veggies. I am a big person on textures. I don't like bananas because of the texture but I like the taste. I don't like the textures of a lot of foods but if I hide it in a shake then it changes the texture and that way I get the benefits from it without worrying if I don't like it or not.

If you follow these tips then you are sure to lose weight. Just remember it takes time to lose it. Just keep believing in yourself and never give up.
