The quahog clam can live for over 500 years. There is a fig tree in Sri Lanka that is at least 2,200 years old. High in the Andes Mountains, there is a shrub believed to be over 3000. Some of the corals off the coast of Hawaii are nearly 5,000 years old. With a life span of about 15,000 years, the glass sponges take the title of the longest living creature on earth. Where do humans fall on this list.

I believe that it was in the 90th Psalms where it was said that the span of our life is 70 years. Those words were written over 3500 years ago. Some of the creatures mentioned were alive back then. Since then, the human race has made considerable advancements. We can cross the country in a few hours. We can put a man on the moon. We can attach a fake limb to the brain to make it actually move. So, why not make advancements in our life span. That’s exactly what I set out to do.

My name is Dr. John Naboth, and I have developed the Lazarus device. It consists of a small metal box with 2 tubes attached to the base of the spine. It can read a patient’s health status and send out an army of nanoprobes to repair and replace anything that may be wrong. It reads the DNA and can tell the difference between healthy cells and cancer cells. Whatever the issue may be, the Lazarus device will discover it and fix it. The Lazarus device was to change the world.

The first step was to conduct clinical trials. 10,000 people signed up for the trials, and they all came with various health problems. They ranged from a bruised toe to some of the deadliest cancers know to man. There were many that came in with diseases that should have prevented them from coming outside. Some of them scared me. Some moved me. 3 of them touched my heart.

Frances Donavon was a victim of pancreatic cancer. It had gone unnoticed and therefore untreated for a few years. Life expectancy with this dreaded illness is only 5 years and that was for an otherwise healthy person. She also had liver cancer, heart cancer, and lung cancer. She had already passed her life expectancy by 6 months. She was a prime subject.

Mike Norwood was recently diagnosed with a glioblastoma. If caught in time, most people can live 1 full year. But Mikes was not caught in time. Nobody knew anything was going on inside him until it started shutting down his body. His speech was slurred. His walking was crooked. You could already see the tumor bulging out of his head. Life expectancy, 1 month.

Carrie Carter was in a coma for a year. Her heart stopped beating a week ago. Life Support was keeping her heart and lungs going. The family was already talking about pulling the plug. With such urgency, she was the first to receive the implant. The day after the surgery, she opened her eyes. She was talking. One more day and the machines were turned off. She was up and walking. She was much healthier and stronger than she was before she got sick.

Mike and Frances experience was similar. This led to others joining the test phase of this project. Berry Cooper was 98 years old. He fell and shattered his hip. James Davis was 105. He was on hospice with too many ailments to list. Donna Nimms was 99. Both legs were lost to gangrene. After the Lazarus device was implanted, they are all up and walking around. Yes, even Donna. They all look like they are not a day over 35.

With a 100% success rate, it did not take long before FDA approval was given for mass production. It did take some time for the Lazarus device to catch on. Who would want a metal box attached to their spine. But when James Davis turned 125 years old and continued to look younger each day, people were amazed. He was the subject of every news story on the planet. Because of him, my device was known worldwide as FOY. Fountain of Youth. It was such a popular name that I officially renamed it. That was 250 years ago, and I must say, Donna Nimms still looks younger than 25.

I do believe that what I have created really has changed the world. One simple surgery and a program update once every 5 years and you can practically live forever. Since the creation of FOY, death rate has been reduced almost down to zero. Most deaths these days are attributed to DOI type deaths. That’s Dead on Impact. This is not like what could happen in a basic car accident. The FOY would fix those injuries quickly. This would be more like sky diving and finding out too late that your chute is not working. You hit the ground and there is nothing left to bury. Or you pull the chain too soon and get sucked into the engine.

The crime rate has also diminished almost to zero. When people realize that their injuries are healing, they have no issue standing their ground to protect themselves and their stuff. Crime just isn’t worth it anymore.

You can imagine that many businesses that existed 250 years ago no longer exist today. At least not many. It’s hard to find a doctor these days. There is no purpose for them. Even fewer funeral homes exist. Why would you need it? The closest thing you’ll find to a doctor in most areas are the buildings where you can get the FOY implanted. Most people have my device implanted in their babies at birth.

National boarders have broken down. 100 years ago, The USA, Canada, joined together as one nation. 50 years ago, all of what was once called Central America joined the union. South America followed the same pattern and became one nation. My device was bringing the world together.

There are a few small communities around the world that believed that what I created was an abomination. They believe that cheating death is a sin and refuse to get the implant. They are the only reason that the few doctor offices and funerals still exist today.

You can tell when you enter one of these communities. They do not appear to be from this century. Or the last one. The people look old and sick. They look poor and suffering. You would want to help them, but you must realize that they chose to live like that. It’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

One such individual is named Arnold Cartwright. Unannounced to his people, he got the implant. He did so only to get close to the larger community. He did so to get close to me. I welcomed him into the company. I raised him up to C.O.O. He used his position to reprogram the nanoprobe system. He used me to take over the world. I never saw it coming.
