I Drank a Gallon of Water Every Day for a Week
This is what happened

My whole life I was told to drink 8 8 ounce glasses of water a day to be healthy. Several years ago a friend told me she drinks a gallon of water a day. At first, I thought it was crazy but then I tried it. I felt great! So I kept it up
Sadly, I fell out of this habit after about a year and a half. So this year my New Year’s resolution is to drink a gallon of water a day. I chronicled my first seven days.
I drank a gallon of water a day for a week and here’s what happened.
Day 1: I peed a lot!
I peed a lot! Like so much! I also had a slight headache. I also had a very difficult time drinking a whole gallon of water. I stayed up 20 extra minutes just to get the last of it down (and as a result was up all night peeing!).
Day 2: I peed more than Day 1!
I peed more than I did the day before. I felt like I spent most my day running to the bathroom. I also still had a slight headache. It was a bit easier to get a gallon of water in today that it was the day before.
Day 3: Less hungry between meals!
I peed a bit less today and did not have a headache at all.
The biggest thing I noticed was that I was not as hungry between meals. I am a big-time snacker between meals so this was huge for me! I also tend to get crazy hungry at night before bed. I think it is boredom but typically the only thing I want to do is eat! I didn’t have that feeling as much tonight.
It was quite a bit easier to get in all of my water today.
Day 4: More energy!
I woke up this morning feeling energized. I was more productive than I had been in previous days (partially because I peed less!) and the energy seemed to last the whole day.
Day 5: My skin looks great!
In addition to having more energy, I noticed my skin was brighter and felt smoother. My eyes seemed a bit less puffy and red, too.
Day 6: Less bloated!
This one was weird but my lips seemed a bit pinker. I also felt less bloated than I did before I started drinking water.
Day 7: Craving water!
Today I woke up craving water. Like I needed it. I had my whole gallon in easily by mid-afternoon.
Conclusion
I started noticing the difference that drinking more water had after about two full days of drinking a gallon of water each day. While I think some days drinking a whole gallon might be a bit much, getting more than the 8 glasses of 8 ounces each day seems like a good idea!
