Hypertension is a health issue that affects more than one person more than once. It makes one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, causing 1 billion deaths annually. However, it is not only about having high blood pressure but about how this disease can be managed.

It is not an easy thing to manage this disease, especially if you have a family member having hypertension. This can lead to confusion and stress, if not diagnosed early enough. Here we will discuss some ways to decrease the risk of having and living with high blood pressure.

Here are some tips which may help you to manage your hypertension better.

1) Ask your doctor about medications

If you suffer from hypertension, ask your doctor for advice about the use of medication. You can find information on what the doctor recommends by searching online or at your local pharmacy office. If you already had the medication when you were younger, try to see your doctor again to ask for a different dosage. Also, make sure you do not stop taking medication prematurely because your body can adjust quickly and you can experience withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking your medication suddenly. The dose should be reduced gradually so that the drug does not seem too much for your body.

2) Have a regular physical exercise

Regular physical exercise has been shown to reduce blood pressure (hypercholesterolemia. or high blood pressure). One important aspect is aerobic exercise, such as walking, running, and cycling. These types of activities burn calories and increase heart rate. They are also good sources of protein, minerals, and vitamins, and they provide oxygen and improve your stamina. A healthy diet containing all of these nutrients helps to maintain normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels. They also decrease the risk of stroke. Exercise also helps you keep up a healthy weight and avoid type 2 diabetes.

3) Do not smoke

Smoking is one of the most harmful habits associated with hypertension. Smoking increases blood pressure but does not prevent it completely. When smoking occurs your bloodstream contains small amounts of catecholamines like epinephrine, epinephrine receptors, vasopressin receptors, and Norepinephrine receptors in your arteries. These receptors trigger a series of reactions inside your heart, and as a result, your blood pressure can rise. Catecholamine is also known to damage the cardiovascular system and cause other cardiac problems. For this reason, smokers should quit. Exercising regularly helps to lower the risk of getting heart-related problems.

4) Eat less processed food

It is worth noting that processed foods contain extra salt and do not give you all the nutrients required for proper health.

5) Stop drinking alcohol

It’s best to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink, especially those who have high blood pressure. Having six standard drinks daily would put you at risk of developing high blood pressure. Drinking one-two glass of wine daily, especially for women, overweight or obese people, those with diabetes, or those with serious medical conditions are bad for your health. Many doctors recommend avoiding red wine and beer because they raise the risk of heart attacks.

6) Avoid alcohol

It is advisable to avoid anything with a strong aroma, such as garlic or onions. Also, avoid spicy food unless you want to have them. This includes burgers, fried fish, hot dogs, pizzas, beef, pork, etc. There is little evidence as to whether these foods promote obesity. Some evidence suggests that the spice used in cooking may harm the body.

7) Stay hydrated

Water helps to regulate the heartbeat and to keep your blood pressure under the safe range. There is no need to overdrink water. As a rule, your intake should be about 8 to 10 glasses per day. Water is essential for the human body. That is why it is recommended for those who do not take medicine with antinolone medication or have had their blood pressure measured. Hydration helps to dilute the concentrated urine causing higher urination levels and to reduce swelling and pain. Your body needs plenty of fluids for metabolism, elimination, and digestion. 8) Keep track of your medication

Many different drugs can treat hypertension. Antihyperlipidemic medication can lower blood pressure. They are used to control high blood pressure. Medications like ACE inhibitors, alpha-blockers, ARBs, beta-blockers, and diuretics can give you faster relief if you are under the 70 – 120 mm Hg increase in blood pressure. Larger doses of ACE inhibitors cause renal failure, and ARBs can lead to arrhythmias and hypertension. Beta-blockers could also help to regulate your blood pressure

9) Visit the doctor immediately and get treated if necessary

If your level of blood pressure shows a significant increase, you should seek help in the nearest hospital. But before your doctor’s visit, know about what the doctor has instructed you to do.

The main goal of his visit would be to check your heart health and to advise you to reduce the increase in blood pressure. He is interested in you as a whole person to assess your health. He uses various devices and he will take all of your vital signs into account and then you will be asked to answer some questions. A general medical examination involves checking your pulse, breathing, and skin color. Other general checks include assessing digestion, weight loss, thyroid or urinary functioning, and a chest.

When the doctor visits you, he will measure your height, weight, waistline, hips, thighs, and arms. At least five minutes after going through his exam, he will assess your mental state, body language, muscle tone, blood pressure and he will tell you exactly what he thinks is wrong.

10) Always follow the doctor’s orders

When you don’t understand or don’t feel like following the instructions given to you, it is best to consult a physician. Follow some examples so you know exactly what to expect during the appointment.

After a successful consultation and test, you will hear back from your doctor’s office as soon as possible.

One of the first things you will do is to go in for another round of clinical findings if needed.

Blood pressure levels within 140–160 mm Hg

Blood pressure levels between 90and 120 mm Hg

Blood pressure levels between 20 and 50/hr

Blood pressure levels between 60 and 110 mm Hg
