How to Cleanse Your Energy and Keep Your Sanity!
The art of keeping your energy clean

I don’t know about you, but life can have me feeling a little stir-crazy sometimes, and it’s through these times that’s it’s super important to take care of ourselves, especially on an energetic level.
If we don’t, emotions can become unbalanced (sometimes unhinged, in my case, LOL), and we might find ourselves feeling a little less our normal selves, and sometimes this can have a negative impact or effect on our lives.
You get what I’m saying, right?
It’s through these times we need to look after ourselves the most, and we can do this by maintaining a basic self-care regime, by keeping our energy clean and cleansed.
Whether you are aware of it or not, our energy is impacted by external influences such as people, places, and spirit on a daily basis.
And I mean REALLY impacted, especially if you have any type of spiritual ability—which kind of means the whole world, lol, whether one is aware of it or not.
For example, a ball of sticky tape rolls down a muddy hill. Can you imagine the amount of dirt and grim it would pick up? It would be covered, right?
Well, your energy (aura) is the same, and the more people and environments you come into contact with during your day, the more chances you have to be impacted.
If you’re not super vigilant, this can (will) affect your emotions, and create the feelings of anxiety, feelings of low mood, and even feelings of anger or frustration, and impact how sane you feel!
And… and… and…
Believe it or not… Having your energy impacted can also affect how healthy you feel, or don’t feel!
Eek, right?
How Will You Know You Are Getting Impacted?
I have a rule. It was one that was taught to me by my very first spiritual development teacher, and I’m going to teach it to you now.
If you’re feeling crappy, don’t own it.
So, how does that translate into knowing whether or not you need to cleanse?
Well, the best way to gauge it is to check in with yourself and how you are feeling, at any giving time.
If you discover you are feeling a little (or a lot) negative, well, then the chance is that you are impacted in some way.
Often, first preferences can be to completely own that feeling or thought pattern, when more often than not, it’s not even ours to begin with.
But once we start owning it of course, well… it becomes more ingrained into our energy field.
So go, cleanse (I cover this below), and then you should start to feel more like yourself again in no time.
And if you just happen to be moving through unconscious or unprocessed emotion and stuff in order for it to be released and healed… well, that’s completely normal and okay too, and keeping your energy clean and cleansed will actually help support you through the process, anyway.
But I’ll write about that another time…
So What Can You Do About It?
Well, I’m so glad you asked that question, and the answer is seriously so simple—Keep your energy clean.
It’s so simple that it’s easy to overlook its importance, or, in my case, ignore the importance of it!
I’ve pushed the container of these disciplines many times (a.k.a, ignored my own advice), only to fall into a heap of anxiety and even feelings of being overwhelmed, depression, or, lol, almost hair-pulling insanity.
And then, the moment I cleanse and clean my energy, all that "crap" I was experiencing (trying not to own), shifts, and I feel brand-spanking back to myself again.
So, take it from someone that has tried and tested the need to keep energy clean countless times, and the effect it can have on us if we do, and also if we don’t…
It works. Simply and powerfully.
So much so that I can’t stress how important it is to make the techniques I’ll share with you below a part of your daily—or in the least, weekly—practice.
So, here goes…
Bathing
I love submerging myself in water, and I hope you do too because having a quick bath or jumping into a body of water (it has to completely cover you), is a great way to instantly cleanse your energy.
Sure, having a shower will help a little too. However, submerging yourself in a bath, a swimming pool, and especially the ocean, will cleanse ALL of your energy.
You’ll know it’s worked because you should notice a shift in your energy and your mood. You might feel lighter, or more peaceful perhaps…
Of course, if you’re a first timer to cleansing, and you have an enormous buildup of residue sludge attached to your energy, it may take a few bathing sessions to get it fully clean.
Personal tip… I always know I’m overdue for a bathing cleanse when I start getting a little frantic in my head, and my mind chatter increases in volume, and I start being not so nice to myself.
That’s my cue that I’m overdue, and you’ll learn to recognise what yours is. But, of course, we don’t want to get to the point do we?
Smudging
Another great tool to arm yourself with is white sage, and the act of using it to "smudge" is an ancient spiritual practice that has been passed down through various cultures, and has become quite a popular cleansing tool in today's world.
It’s relatively simple to use, and the benefits are that you can keep your energy and your home cleansed by smudging often.
How often do you ask? Well, that would depend on your individual needs.
If you work with energy and/or people, smudge your body perhaps two to three times a week or more, and if you tend to keep to yourself, you could probably get away with smudging one to two times a week, or even fortnightly.
Ideally though, giving yourself a quick smudge every evening after your day would be immensely beneficial, and bring peace and balance to your energy, daily.
Preventing is better than curing, right?
Instructions: Light your sage and blow on it until it’s super smoky, and then wave it around your entire body, making sure you’re quite generous with the time you spend doing so.
And don’t worry if you smoke yourself out. White sage doesn’t affect you like cigarette smoke would, and if you do find yourself coughing, it may mean that you need to submerge yourself in a super high dose of a combination of cleansing rituals.
As for smudging your environment, once a month should be ample, or at the least every couple of months. Of course, if you find you have an influx of people coming and going, more is best to keep the balance in your home.
Instructions: Close ALL your windows (this is a MUST, or the smoke won’t have time to have the necessary effect, if it drifts straight out the window!) and blinds, and light your sage as the instructions mention above. Then, go ahead and smudge one room at a time, making sure ALL areas, corners, and surfaces receive smoke.
Leave everything closed, especially your windows, until the smoke dissipates. Take note that the longer it takes, the more the area needed a smudge.
Wind
Using the element of wind is also another great way to cleanse your energy, and keep your aura free from unwanted residue.
Simply stand outside on a windy day with arms open wide and outstretched, as you let the wind flow around your body. It will remove the residue, and help you to feel brand-spanking you again.
Good to note: You could also do this with rain, and even better, when its raining and windy! Let the magic of Earth's elements transform you…
And, just a thought… You could even open your home’s windows on a windy day, and let it flow through all the rooms. Lol, of course you wouldn’t do it with rain!
There are many more tools that you can use that will contribute to maintaining a clean energy balance, such as certain crystals, moving your body with exercise and dance, and even immersing yourself in sunlight.
Ultimately though, this is your soul's journey, and so it is up to you to find something that works for you. We are all different, and so of course it is likely that different things will resonate with different people.
I just wanted to share some of what I use, because my own experience has left no doubt that it works, and works well in shifting unwanted feelings of temporary insanity!
