Mirror Dragon Tarot
Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.
That said;
The Center card this week is The Universe.
The Fool, with the number zero represents the Void, the space into which all things are created, pure possibility. In opposition and in balance, The Universe represents all things made manifest, reality in its purest form. Here we gaze at our personal bit of the great macrocosm we’re part of. In the vast landscape of reality, where do we choose to create our particular interaction with time/space? As humans, we’re familiar and comfortable with our 3 dimensional understanding of things so our view of where we fit into this dimension defines who we are in this journey we’ve undertaken through physicality. The Universe asks us to contemplate the slice of reality we've found ourselves in and determine whether it’s as we would choose to have it. Are you where you want to be? The perspective of the Universe compels us to recognize the lives we’ve woven, what we would choose to add or remove from that tapestry and the fact that all we are experiencing has been created by our own choices and, as a result, that we can also create what we experience going forward.
The West card is the 5 of Cups.
With this emotional five we find a tendency to get caught up in the past, what’s been done, what’s over, what’s no longer there. The image of the three empty cups becomes mesmerizing and we can get swamped with nostalgia, regret, loss or yearning. It’s wonderful to hold on to memories of good times past but only to the degree that we can let them go or carry them with us as we move forward into new experiences to make into memories. Though reliving fond memories is a fine diversion, when it distracts us from what we’re living now it robs us of new enjoyment, new experiences. Try not to let the past distort or divert the future.
The East card is the Queen of Cups.
This queen is the watery part of water. She’s the most intuitive and empathic of the lower arcana cards as well as the most easily led or even manipulated because her actions are heart driven. Her radar for intentional misdirection is rather lacking because she knows what the real feelings are behind a desired objective. Intentional misdirection and coercion aren’t part of her reality so it’s difficult to see it in others when her feelings can so clearly see the underlying desires of the person responsible. On the other hand, she can Clearly see the desires of the person she’s interacting with so hiding devious intent that is not in line with one's true desires can be very difficult for anyone trying to accomplish it.
In conclusion;
This may be an emotional week filled with new realizations of who we are, where we’ve ended up and our many open options for the future. If nostalgia or regret become overwhelming, carve some time into busy schedules to give attention to the lessons and joys of the past. Write them out or draw them, go through old photo albums or listen to the music of your childhood. When we allow those feelings to surface and be recognized we not only reaffirm them in our memories but this acknowledgement also lets the healing begin.
Have an emotionally healing week.
Light, Tory
TIP for the week: There are those who would mis-teach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue. And that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice.
