Fitness Does Not Guarantee Health. Health Does Not Guarantee Fitness.

Getting To Know The Difference

Healthiness Combining Fitness

So you consider your self to be fit, you consider yourself to be healthy. But having one does not necessarily ensure the other. I have been a fitness and well being coach/personal trainer for 15 years and have seen and heard it all about loosing weight, gaining muscle, increasing physical performance, nutrition and supplements, longevity strategies and overall well-being both physically and mentally.

I have known ultra athletes that still smoke cigarettes, weight lifters that guzzle masses of proteins and steroids, martial artists that eat nothing but junk food and chocolate. Very 'fit' people although they also have negative habits and addictions.

Then there are those whom don't exercise and eat very unhealthily but look incredibly good and well albeit a little podgy and overweight.

Life presents the choices, the mind makes the decision and the body follows through and acts accordingly.

So just why do we make the choices we do in relation to our health/fitness. Why does one so often come before the other? And is it possible to live in sync with both?

Of course you can enjoy both! We often choose one over the other subconsciously without hardly even realising that we are leaning too much in the one direction and ignoring the other. It is easy to overdo it physically training in the pursuit of higher fitness, but when injuries inevitably occur we are left sitting about recovering and worrying if we will heal enough to continue our exercising. Know your limits well and don't over exceed them unless you have prepared properly both mentally as well as body wise. To get the best from yourself you need merely to RELAX. We don't do this enough in our modern world of stresses, bills and smart phones.

To become healthy one should primarily be concerned with ALL that you intake, not just foods, drinks and supplement wise but also who you talk and listen to, your choice of music and also very importantly what you watch. For this has a massive effect on your psyche and well-being and will be detrimental to your body and health if it is negative or illicit. A healthy body comes from a healthy mind. Remember this if you are seeking more happiness and contentment within. I am also a trained addiction and substance misuse counsellor but I am not going to mention much about substance abuse and addiction in this article.

And onto fitness we go. With everyone hopping mad recently for a better physique and joining gyms and running clubs all over the globe, now would seem like a great time to engage in something that gets you fitter and keeps the weight off. But is that really what YOU want or are you just trying to impress someone else or just pick it up as a fad for the month? Being fit is something quite a few are born with and our DNA certainly plays a major role in what we can and can't do, what we like and don't like. A lot of people believe that working out in gyms or at home is not for them but we all need to exercise our bodies for maximum health and optimal physicality. There is no way to cheat this I'm afraid, even disabled folks receive physio and light exercise routines that let them enjoy the endorphins that come with adequate exercise.
