Everything You Need to Know Before You Get Your First Tarot Reading

This is everything that you should know before you get your first tarot reading.

I have been doing tarot since I was in elementary school. It has always been something that I was drawn to, even before I knew of the height of my abilities. Four months ago, I went from only doing tarot readings on myself and friends; to doing them for the public for a fee. Everytime I encounter a first timer, they have a thousand questions to ask. I am now going to answer all of those questions for all of you and even tell you some other things that may help you and your reader during the experience.

The main question that is what is a tarot reading? The funny thing is, even though I have been doing readings for so long, I still don't know who to answer that question. It is just something that I have always been able to do. According to wikipedia, the book definition of a tarot reading is

a form of cartomancy whereby practitioners use tarot cards purportedly to gain insight into the past, present or future

Now, if you want me to explain MY process to you, I can do that. I ask you two questions, what are you looking to get out of this reading today and what do you want your reading on? I will then go on by asking if you have any specific questions or if you are looking for something broader. From there, I get to know you a little bit by asking your age and a little bit about your background. This is just so I can pick up on your energy and then I pull your cards. After I look at what has been pulled and interpret it, we will talk about it. Also, not everything i tell you will come from the cards. Some will come straight from my thoughts and feelings that I get once I pick your energy up. Thats the basis of what you get with me.

I have also been asked why do you charge so much? It is completely understandable that not everyone will come to me now that I am charging $30. I have also seen people tweet to not go to people who charge for readings. You should understand that readings cost as much as they do not just because of the time that they take but because of the emotional toll that it can take. Everytime I do a reading, I feel like a little bit of my energy is drained. Not because of the person that I am doing a reading on but just because of the fact that I am actually doing the reading. So please give your reader a break AND a tip ;)

One of the most important things for me, as a reader who can detect and all types of energy, come into your reading with a clear mind. I love all of my regulars and even the one timers who I encounter BUT one thing that I can say is that, please watch how you dump all of your feelings onto your tarot readings. I know that all readers are different, but if you tell a full story, with background and then how you feel about it, not only are you taking up more of your readers time BUT you are also, emotionally dumping all over them. This is something that I am actually fine with but after having six sessions in one day where every single one of them dumped all of their problems off to you and took off, it can become emotionally unbearable. This is not because we do not care but it is because tarot reading itself is already emotionally heavy. If your reader asks you to dump or explain yourself, then by all means tell your story friend! BUT if they ask you "what would you like to get a reading on?" or "do you have any specific questions?", just do your best to keep it concise until they ask for more.

Sometimes people will message me and say, how do I know if you are a scam or not? Unfortunately there is nothing that I can do to show you that beforehand. To find out if your reader is a scam or not, you will have to get the reading. People often ask me for reviews but I could make those reviews up, although I would not do that. I always tell people the same thing whenever they ask me that question. Everyone who comes to me, leaves happy. I have predicted break ups, pregnancies, injuries and more so I have no doubt that I can deliver the reading to you that you need; but you have to believe in me too. Everytime I get a reading from someone who seems doubtful, I let them know that if they are not 100% in it, I won't be either. Not devoting all of your energy to a reading is a waste of the reading. The cards will be wrong and then you will be left thinking, what happened? Oh you are a fake! No, it was just that you were too skeptical to actually get into it.

A lot of readers will tell you take what makes sense and leave the rest. This is usually whenever people do general readings but it is common sense that nothing is set in stone. I could tell you something today and then something could completely derail all of it tomorrow. You are just going to have to trust me and the fact that I would not be doing this if I thought that I couldn't deliver. There are going to be times where your reader may miss something or whee you mind may drift and then so will the truth behind the cards. So once again, be easy on your reader. If they are able to prove theirself to you, please do not keep going back to them and getting upset because you expect God like things. I can not tell you certain things. Some things must be left for you to figure out from life and sometimes I MIGHT be wrong because of whatever reason.

Is tarot reading witchcraft? I think that majority of things in life are what you make them. I can not speak for anyone else but I can speak for me. I pray every single night and every morning to a God that is greater than any one and any thing. I am thankful that my God has given me the gift of sight, hearing and knowing. There are times where I feel overwhelmed by how powerful my gift is. Do I partake in witchcraft? NO! I pray before and after every reading not only for myself but for the person I am having the session with. Do other people who do tarot partake in witchcraft? Maybe, you will have to ask them. The cards are strictly a medium for me. Something that I use to clarify the things in my head that I already see, hear and think.

Now for the last question that I will be going over today. Can ANYONE start doing tarot readings? I believe so. However, I don't think that you will be able to pick up EVERYTHING that naturally intuitive and psychic people can but I do believe that with practice, you can get extremely close. Also, you can go strictly off of what the cards say rather than also being intuitive while doing so.

I recommend that everyone gets at least one tarot reading in their lifetime. Make sure that your reader is someone that fits with you. So many times have I had my regulars tell me I'm so glad I found you! I always feel so good after readings. Make sure that your reader makes you feel the same way. it is important to feel that connection.
