Effective Method for Resisting Negativity Through Meditative Practice

A guide for those who need to listen to their Inner Voice.

The Rose is a fascinating object to behold, known to be a symbol of Consciousness for thousands of years.

Every now and then, there comes a time when the negotiations of life take their toll on our minds and consciences. We typically aren't prepared for the negative pessimism which is flung our way, and we also aren't ready to react towards it. However, there are techniques that can make the vast difference between making a negative reaction to a certain circumstance, which could have been avoided through the application of reflection, and positive thinking.

Acceptance

In this circumstance, what we need to focus on, first of all, is the Acceptance of the situation at hand which has already happened. Things are looking pretty rough at the moment because "A" led to "B", and somehow we are not happy. Let us take a moment to calm down and relax completely. First, we will do a meditative exercise.

Meditation

Do this easy breathing exercise when you feel the negative tension within the body, especially in areas of mental uncertainty.

  1. Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for around 15-30 minutes.
  2. Close your eyes, sit with your spine erect, and breathe inward for 7 seconds; then exhale 7 seconds. Do this breathing routine 7 times.
  3. Once you have got into this state of harmony with the body, allow positive thoughts to flow into you, and allow yourself to have gratitude for the present moment and any other previous moments of which were pleasant.
  4. Focus on the breath and when you are balanced, set an intention during the present moment for the future - what you would like to see; the duration being about 5-10 minutes. Really grasp what it is that you want (define your terms).
  5. Allow that focus to fade away, breathe in again but this time breathes in 5 seconds, exhale 10 seconds and do so again seven times. Then open your eyes, stop the meditation, and continue your day.
  6. (Optional)- Write down in a journal what comes to you during this period of reflection and intention.

Using this Meditative exercise will help to clear the mind of negative influences in the Present moment, and will clarify what you would like to see in the future, leading you into a state that is not only receptive to your Subconscious, but also from the Cosmos.

After this Meditative exercise, you should be feeling very relaxed, your muscles may even be so relaxed you may need to get some sleep. That is fine. Let your body tell you how to heal, and listen to it.

Affirmation

When you are done with the meditation exercise, run through a list of Positive Affirmations which will make you critically think about the next step to take. This can also fit into the 3rd step of the meditation exercise if you are hard-pressed for time.

You can start by saying or writing,

"Today I overcome my fear of ... by doing ..."

"I am now ready, willing, and able to ..."

"I am open to receiving more ..."

"I clearly see my goal in front of me which is ..., and I am going after it today."

When you become better at writing or critically thinking about the next steps to take, these exercises will become much easier. This will plunge you into the next phase of the process, which is Acting.

Acting

If you sit around and wait for something to happen to you, it could happen, but percentage-wise, it is much less circumstantial. Those affirmations are there to let both you and the creative intelligence of the Cosmos know what you are intending to bring into existence in the present moment, from this point forward. However, that force also likes to see a tiny bit of effort on our part as well. When that creative agency has given you a chance to allow your dreams to come to fruition, do not turn it down out of fear, take the call, and go after your dream! This could come in the form of a vision of a job where you send in your application and you get hired or have someone hand you that nice promotion to your already well-established career.

Allow yourself to feel the Interconnectedness of all that Is. Feel that Infinite Bliss moving through you, around you, and in all that you sense objectively, subjectively, and subconsciously. Allow yourself to receive love, and to freely give love without barriers and restrictions. Watch how the Universe brings that atmosphere of warmth back into your life. May you accept, visualize, and act upon your next cycle in this wonderful journey through life.
