Conscious Self Care: Rituals to Bring You Back to Balance

Through conscious intent, everyday tasks are transformed into ritual. That is the real magic.

We are currently right in the middle of Libra season, which means we are all trying to find balance in one way or another. This balance shows up in all areas of our lives, whether that's our mood, finances, relationships or whatever else. In order to bring balance to all those aspects, we must first find our own centers. And one of the best ways to do this is through ritual. Taking care of not only our body, but mind and spirit through daily ritual gives us that sacred place within where we can rest no matter how bad the storm outside may be. The most important thing is that you do these rituals with conscious intent. In this way you create a sort of magic which allows you to manifest whatever it is you desire. Below I share with you some of my own favourite self care rituals. Keep reading!

Bathroom Rituals:

One of my favourite things is preparing my space before a shower (or any other ritual). I light some candles and light some incense and strategically place my crystals around the room. This creates a magical atmosphere and gets me in the right mindset for some Self Love. It transforms the everyday act of showering into an act of Love for myself.

Water Rituals:

Water is incredibly cleansing. During every shower, or even swim in a lake or ocean, I like to envision all negative energy leaving my body and aura. And when I'm done, I squeeze out any remaining undesirable energies from my hair. I always feel so refreshed afterwards.

Brushing your hair:

Such a simple act can easily be transformed with the intent to remove any stuck energies within the hair. Just as you remove any dust or dead hair, so you are also removing stagnant emotions, thought patters and habits. After all, our hair stores memory and seemingly tells a story of our lives. A perfect example of this is the way people shave their heads when in need of a fresh start.

Bringing awareness to your food and drinks:

An easy way to heal yourself from the inside can be found in the way you ingest your food and water. Thank your food for the nutrition it provides. Bring conscious awareness to the sensations, tastes and textures. It will help you slow down with your meals, aid digestion and nutrient absorption, and reduce cravings and overeating.

The Breath:

Practice breathing consciously trough the belly. Breathing is such an automatic act that most of the time we do it without any awareness, which is crazy considering it is such a vital process for our bodies. Utilising the breath will nourish your entire body with vital life force energy, calm you, aid with anxiety and stress, help you sleep better, and bring you back to your precious center when you need it most.

A great exercise for Libra season is placing your hands together over your heart and imagining your aura coming into balance like the two sides of an old fashioned weighing scales.

Nature - a ritual in itself:

Any time that I feel off, I simply go outside. It always miraculously lifts my mood and makes me feel whole again. Breathe in the fresh air, touch and connect with the Earth, feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your skin, bask in the elements. Nature is the most powerful healer.

Lastly...

Whatever it is that you do, do it with conscious intent. This is the easiest and most effective way to bring magic into any daily experience.

What are some of your daily rituals? And is there a way you can bring more awareness into each one?
