Choices

Dismantling Black & White Thinking

By Kristielyn JonesPublished 5 years ago 2 min read
Home cooked meal vs. take-out. Hmm....

The smallest choices we make daily can determine our overall state of being, that adds up overtime. Instead of measuring our choices as either good or bad (cause our ego loves to do this), let’s just call them options; they are neither good nor bad. However, they all have consequences, once again, not really good or bad; but it gives an energetic output or frequency that will either empower us or dis-empower us. And it is with these choices we feel the energetic consequences of these choices.

Our emotional self flows on an energetic spectrum of low and high vibrations that coincide with the colours of the rainbow or the light spectrum. Throughout the day we flow along this spectrum based on our thoughts, words, and actions. If we are living in a state of low vibration and don’t feel very empowered, we attract low vibrational energy, in the form of thoughts, people or situations. Now what really impacts our ability to manifest high vibrational outcomes, is our ego’s need to label, analyze and sabotage our true self’s desires. One major way that this occurs is when we label choices as either good or bad, and this programming goes back to when we were children, when we were praised for good behaviour or punished for bad behaviour (no wonder it stuck with us all this time). But now, we know better, because we are reading this article and are ready to evolve from this black and white thinking into something more productive and meaningful.

Ego has an important role in our spiritual development; however, we must learn to discern when ego is trying to drive our lives and when we are in the driver’s seat. A perfect practice to help keep ego in its place is the practice of staying in the present moment, through surrendering and meditation. It is in this moment when we are the most empowered to make choices that truly reflect what is in our heart’s. Taking a few moments before deciding to ask ourselves if this choice that I am making is out of a place of self-love or self-sabotage. It takes practice and may be super uncomfortable because many of us have been making decisions on auto-pilot or “unconsciously”. And we have just gotten used to feeling the repercussions of these choices and writing them off as just “bad luck” or “the Universe is punishing me”, when in reality we are attracting what state of being we are in.

Making choices that empower us is a lot easier when we are practicing self-love daily. This comes through self-care, positive and loving self-talk, and being our own best friend in every moment. So let’s practice living in the grey area, where choices are made from a place of self-love and not self-sabotage, because you are so worth all the beautiful experiences you desire, so manifest from your heart by loving yourself first.
