Silly socks and wacky hats,

Making friends with alley cats.

Dancing in the pouring rain,

Laughing through both joy and pain.

Today's weather forecast showed a not-so-pleasant result, so I grabbed my wallet and headed to the nearest store. I needed to stock up on some chocolate, coffee, and nuts - the perfect companions for such weather. As I headed outside, I saw that most of the stores were closed. Hurrying to find a store that was open, I found none.

Disappointed and heading back, a light caught the corner of my eye. Turning my head, I saw a light bulb at the end of the alley illuminating a sign that read 'Luna Cante' - from the name, it sounded like a gift store but since I had never visited it before, I decided to give it a try.

The bell jingled as I entered - I definitely loved the chiming bell sound. It was a unique store, containing an assortment of artifacts, books, candles, quills, feathers, ink pens, and small bite boxes. I didn't know what those were, but I was definitely going to try them.

If I had more time and the store wasn't closing up, I would have loved to explore it more. The shop owner was a lovely couple busy with the remaining customers. They also had their two little kids who were trying to get their attention.

Stepping up to them, I gave them a smile and asked what mischievous acts they were up to. I was greeted with a pair of mismatched socks with little flying balls and a hat that looked more like a witch's cap. Seeing their proud faces, I could tell they made it themselves. Now that is creativity and skill - they definitely needed to be proud.

I took both items from them, telling them that they were sale-worthy and that I was buying them. I gained two new friends, and they were happy to tell me about the bite boxes and their recommendations. Picking up the green box, which, according to him, was a pistachio one, I looked for the other one recommended and there it was - a half-white box and a bark-colored box at the back.

Paying for my purchases, I headed out just in time as they were closing up the shop. The remaining customers also left, and as I was leaving, I was suddenly hit with a splash. Putting my purchases in my coat pockets, I touched my head. Did a bird poop on my head?

No, it did not. The splashes poured down with increasing speed, the clouds covered the sky, and the temperature dropped. The cold was seeping into my bones - I could already hear my teeth chatter. Hurrying to get out, it was like someone had opened a tap of water on my head.

Taking a few minutes to catch my breath, I pulled out the socks and put them on. No matter how ridiculous they looked, at least they provided warmth. The hat, on the other hand, just provided cover. I began heading back when I was given a surprise. I felt a touch on my leg and shoulder - giving a scream, I ran to get out without looking back. Suddenly, I heard a soft 'meow'.

Looking down, I saw a drowned white cat looking at me with its pitiful eyes. The dots connected, and I looked back, as expected, there were six more adorable cats - wet and pitiful. Laughing at being scared for no reason, the laugh, because of the cold, came out more like a cackle. It didn't help when the cats joined in with their own 'meows'.

I think anyone passing by this alley would think I was a crazy cat lady/witch who is up to no good. Reaching home with a bunch of cats, I left them with a bowl of milk by the fireplace while I went to have a warm shower.

Cleaned and bundled up, I reached the living room to see the cats dozing by the fire. I sat on the couch with my mom and regaled my adventure to her. Together, we enjoyed the nutty and chocolatey bites.
