8 easy self-care ideas
Self-care shouldn’t be difficult or expensive, that’s why I wanted to share these 8 easy self-care ideas.

Sleep at least 8 hours
Sleeping at least 8 ours a day allows your body and mind to recharge, which helps you feel refreshed and alert when you wake up. A tip, if you have the possibility to, is to try and go to bed and wake up at the same times everyday. This helps you set your body clock and your body will learn when to go to sleep and when to wake up, which also helps with feeling more energized.
Eat a nutritious breakfast
Nothing can start your day better than a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Eating a nutritious breakfast helps you to feel more energized.
Set aside one minute of breathing right
Have you heard before that most of us don’t know how to breath right? Most of us breaths from the chest, but this is the wrong way of breathing. When you breath the proper way, your stomach should move in and out, and your chest should only move a little. Think of it as a string pulling you upward. Doing this helps calm your mind and get more oxygen to your system.
Read a good book
Did you know that reading a book can contribute to many positive things like reducing stress, improving your focus, memory, communication skills, improve your mental health and many other factors? And also the feeling of emerging into a whole other world is one of the best feelings ever.
Exercise for at least 15 minutes a day
Actually we only need 15 minutes of exercise every third day for our bodies to work, but the benefits of exercising every day is so much better. You can take a walk, put on some good music and dance while you cook, do some yoga. Any exercise is good and helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. So when your lung and heart health improve, you have much more energy to tackle your daily chores.
Take an hour brake from your phone
Our phone and more so social media take up a huge amount of space in our brain, which makes us less energetic and lethargic. Just taking an hour break away from your phone, or all technology, can help you recharge. And also getting more real-time instead of screen time will help to increase your happiness, ease anxiety, reduce multitasking and also reduce technology cravings. This will help you to live more in the present.
Meet or speak to a friend
This could be online, someone you know or even your pet. Spending time with those you enjoy helps your overall well-being, it provides emotional support which helps you feel better about yourself. It is said that those who see their friends and family as supportive tend to feel a greater sense of purpose and meaning in life than those who do not.
Write down three things you are grateful for
Writing down things we are grateful for increases positivity, it helps you to naturally become more positive. As you write down what you are grateful for, you will become more optimistic because you will be focusing on the positive things in your life, therefore reducing the power of negative thoughts. It can be the things that seem like the tiniest (which is often the biggest) like the sun, or being able to breath fresh air or maybe that you can read or listen to this text right now.
What is most important is that you do the things that you enjoy and make you feel alive. If it is painting, being out in nature, rollerblading or writing dosen’t matter, only that it’s something you enjoy to do.
