It’s hard to believe around this time in the year 2019, everyone was out performing their day to day activities and going on about their business like usual. Then a virus comes and turn everyone’s world upside down. What may have started in Wuhan has now impact the globe in ways no one saw coming, let alone were prepared for. This year 2020 sure caught everyone off guard, and even though most of us are currently on lock down and under quarantine, it’s important to know that like all tough times, this too will not last. However, it’s safe to say that the world we knew may not the same once the government decide to open things back up and people are allowed to resume their jobs and daily activities. We as a society will go through both positive and rough changes once the impact of this virus has subsided. Some of these changes will bring upon success and opportunities in the lives of many, while some may have to make some unwanted adjustments in their lifestyles.

More people will become more health conscious

One of the major changes we are beginning to go through as of now is a change in the way we perceive our health. From washing our hands as often as possible to eating healthier foods and drinking herbal tea to boost our immune system, people are now taking their health more serious than ever before. Especially after learning how this virus can be lethal to individuals who already have health complications. Ginger and turmeric have now become household commodities due to their nutrients that helps remove mucus from the body as well as being anti-inflammatory substances. The consumption of fruits such as avocados and berries that help reduce the risk of heart diseases and improve cardiovascular health have now become part of most people diet. People are now more interested in buying organic foods more than usual regardless how expensive they may be comparing to normal store brand goods. Even the grocery stores are contributing to the health of people in the community. The other day, I was out shopping at my local Publix supermarket when I came upon these new immunity shot bottles called Suja. They comes in various flavors and each flavor is design for a different health purpose. I have to say I have never seen this brand of goods in the store before the impact of COVID-19, and I certainly did not see them at the vitamin and supplement shops that I normally go to. As happy as I am to see people taking their physical condition more serious, it’s also a bit disappointing to see that all it took was a pandemic to get everyone to start making better decisions regarding their health.

Rise in A.I. and new technology

Believe it or not this one is no surprise to anyone. Even if you’re not a tech buff like myself or anyone in the technology, communication and/or IT industry, it’s foolish to think that A.I. and new technology wouldn’t sneak up on us during the aftermath of any crisis. Now so many individuals are having issues regarding 5G technology stating how detrimental it is to one’s health on a cellular level. Then again we have been around cell phones which emit radiation for a couple decades now, and even though people claim that these devices cause cancer in the body, we found ourselves still buying the new iPhone or the new Galaxy Android phones once they are released. There is no doubt 5G will be a game changer in our society. From self-driving cars which will reduce accidents greatly and improve our mobility to having the ability to get things done faster and efficiently using drones, going into a new era of faster communication and reliable connectivity, 5G will set the stage for A.I. and the new smart grid system. The positive effects this will have on our society is the speed and effectiveness at which work will get done will benefits us more than the physical or mental damage it will cause to our health. Everything in this universe has both a positive and a negative aspect to it. We are the ones who get to decide how we allow it to impact us our lives. So I say rather than worrying about how 5G will hurt us, why not use the proper health measures to protect ourselves from its effects on our lives.

Remote work and Innovation in the education system

With new technology, there will definitely be a change in everyone’s lifestyle. As we are being conditioned to practice social distancing, giving it about a year or two, it will become normal to perform tasks from a distance. Rather than going out to perform our daily tasks, we will find ourselves doing most of them remotely. This however, will created more jobs in the tech industry and network information technology field. Even the way we educate ourselves will change. Until a vaccine is available, we can say for certain that the school system will not be the same as it always been. As of right now parents are either homeschooling their children and letting them attending class virtually. An article from CBS News stated that March 2020 was the first March since 2002 without a school shooting. Aside from the safety of our children’s well-being, the education system in public schools have not improve over the years rather declining with students not getting the proper information in the schools. Hopefully with new innovative methods of attending class and acquiring information, children will get the proper education that they need.

A leap forward in the health industry

As I mentioned before COVID-19 took everyone by surprise, and without a cure or vaccine for it, the healthcare industry has had its work cut out for it. Since the arrival of this virus, millions have been infected and hundreds of thousands have lost their lives including healthcare specialists and essential workers. Hopefully, this experience will push doctors, researchers, and the pharmaceutical industry to come up with breakthroughs not only to handle this pandemic but to also prepare us for the worst the future may have in store for us.

A shift in economics and finance

This virus has done a number on our economy. Stocks prices have gone down tremendously, and businesses have been force to go on a hiatus until further notice. With so many people being laid off, the unemployment rates has gone up drastically and many are worried that they will not be able to sustain their financial stability in the next couple months. In the other hand, this may be the best time to strategize a new way to make an earning. We are heading to a time where becoming self-employed may be the safest route. Our creativity is definitely something we will need to fall back on in times like this. With the big companies taking a massive hit at the moment, this is a good time to capitalize on what’s happening. Not having a skill or talent will put anyone in a very unfortunate position to provide for themselves and their family. If you don't plan on specializing in a particular skill or investing into a market with whatever funds you have at hand, your financial state in the next two to three years will suffer greatly.

A legendary artist once quoted “Through every dark night, there’s a bright day after that.” Although we know this will not last forever, it’s also important to understand that once everything goes back to normal, there will be changes that we will need to adjust to. All we have to do now, is ride this wave out and prepare ourselves for what is to come when this is over.
