You Need to Try These Anti-fly Solutions
Actionable advice.
Flies are not only disgusting and annoying but can even be dangerous because of the diseases they carry and with which they can infect all the food they sit on.
For example, did you know that flies can pass on bacteria like Salmonella? This is because flies fly from one product to another and carry a lot of dangerous microorganisms and dirt.
Therefore, it is advisable to get rid of flies as soon as possible before they start laying their larvae around the house. So discover the best anti-fly solutions!
Effective fly repellent solutions
There are many natural solutions that will get rid of flies permanently, as long as you keep the house clean and do not leave the windows wide open without putting a net. Most remedies are very easy to do, and we have selected for you the ones that will make your mission to "eradicate" flies very easy!
1. Vodka fly spray
Flies hate vodka, so many natural insect repellents are hard to come by. You need the following ingredients to make a perfect fly spray:
- 240 ml of vodka;
- 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel;
- a teaspoon of eucalyptus oil;
- half a teaspoon of essential oil mixture.
Mix the ingredients in a spray container, then apply the mixture to the skin and near-infested areas to drive away flies. This remedy also works very well against mosquitoes, especially due to eucalyptus oil.
2. Lemon and cloves
This natural fly repellent has a dual role: it perfumes your home and keeps "enemies" at bay.
Cut a lemon in half and stick 10-12 cloves in it. You can do as much as you want. They'll refresh your house if you put them on saucers. Alternatively, you can use clove oil, which works more efficiently than solid cloves.
3. Flytrap
This fly trap is so easy to make that it will look like a child's play. All you need is a jar, some sugar, some water, and a paper cone.
First, put the sugar syrup in the jar (20-30 ml can) and cut the top of the paper cone so that it does not have a diameter of more than one centimeter. Place the cone upside down in the syrup jar so that it does not touch the liquid. Flies will be attracted to the sugar and will enter the jar, but will not be able to get out because of the paper.
4. Sticky paper for flies
This fly trap is also available in stores, but you can easily make it at home. You need the following tools and materials:
- baking paper or thin pieces of cardboard;
- scissors;
- pan;
- corn syrup;
- the water;
- twine.
Cut the paper into 5 cm wide strips, then pour equal parts of water and corn syrup into a pan and let them boil, stirring constantly.
Then take the pan off the heat and let the strips of paper soak in this liquid for at least 4-5 hours. After a while, let them dry for 2-3 hours and hang them in the areas where you noticed the flies. They will be attracted by the sweet aroma of the syrup but will stick to the respective strips.
5. Dishwashing detergent
One of the most effective anti-fly solutions is dishwashing detergent. It contains a small amount of borax and can kill flies quickly if it has a concentration higher than 5%.
Clean a spray container and add 7-10 drops of liquid detergent, then 500 ml of lukewarm water. Shake the container well and spray the solution on the flies every time you see them.
Borax dehydrates the exoskeleton of flies and kills them in minutes. In fact, this substance is also recommended to get rid of ants or cockroaches.
6. Carnivorous plants
One of the cleanest anti-fly solutions is to buy carnivorous plants. These are not only fascinating (and it is not excluded to "play" with them for hours), but they also clean your house, because they feed on flies, among other things. Of course, I can't eat a lot, so if you have a lot at home, don't expect to get rid of them right away.
You have a lot of anti-fly solutions at hand, so this summer they won't have a chance to bother you with these unbearable insects.
