How to Clean the Vertical Blinds in 3 Easy Steps
It's quite simple.
Vertical blinds may not be the most aesthetic choice for shade in the house, but they are certainly very practical and are the perfect choice for large windows and spacious rooms.
The good thing is that they should not be washed as often as the curtains or drapes, but from time to time they should also be cleaned, the most appropriate being once a year.
So, find out everything about cleaning the vertical blinds, step by step, so that they always look like new!
Step-by-step cleaning of vertical blinds
First of all, you need to know that you do not need to lower the vertical blinds to clean them. If you take them out of the window, not only will you waste more time, but you also risk damaging them, the results are not necessarily better.
To effectively clean vertical blinds, you will need to follow a few simple steps.
Step 1: Use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum the blinds
To vacuum the blinds, you need to vacuum the upholstery brush. First, you need to close the blinds completely and turn them completely on one side.
Then, you have to vacuum very easily on each piece of blinds, from top to bottom. When you're done, turn the blinds over and repeat the process.
Do not use the vacuum cleaner at full power, as this may damage the blinds. The most important thing, however, is not to forget to put the brush on the vacuum cleaner pipe - if you use it without it, it is possible to scratch the surface of the blinds.
Step 2: Wipe off the dust from the blinds
Usually, vacuuming vertical blinds is not enough to clean them completely, but they must also be dusted because the vacuum cleaner cannot completely clean their surface. Because they overlap, there will always be visibly dirty portions, which you will deal with at this stage.
To wipe them completely from dust, you can use a dry, very clean cloth, a dust pad, or even a brush (the threads should be natural, not plastic). The blinds must be completely closed and turned to one side. You will need to wipe off the dusty parts individually and then, after finishing, turn them over and clean them.
Step 3: Wash the blinds (optional)
In general, there is no need to wash the blinds if you are careful to vacuum them and dust them regularly. But if you woke up after a few years that you want to clean them because they already look a bit gray, then you may need to go to this step, after following the first two.
First, put some towels on the floor under the blinds. Soak one or two sponges in a solution made of warm (not hot) water and a little soap, then wash each piece of the blind from top to bottom, holding it with one hand on the other side and pressing it lightly with the sponge. Do not rub the surface or use abrasive soap!
If necessary, dry the surface of the blind with a soft cloth or a microfiber cloth. For best results, it is best to change the soapy water solution several times, otherwise, you run the risk of soiling your blinds instead of cleaning them.
For a simpler cleaning of the vertical blinds, we recommend that you vacuum them and wipe them with dust once every half year so that you don't have to wash them with soap. In the end, the lazy person runs more, so make an extra effort for the next cleaning!
Cleaning up the entire house is not a difficult process if you know the required tips & tricks to make the task easy for you. It's quite simple, actually.
