Planning Ahead Is The Secret To My Life

Living without a plan is buying poverty, insecurities, and pain.

Do you think there is a secret to life?

Many believe that and have wasted years of their lives and the lives of the ones relying on them, trying to find it or figure it out.

The secret to your life is in your actions, choices, and decisions. It's in your plans. It's in your living. It's how you live, love, and learn.

Natasha is always complaining about her life and the things happening in it.

She rants, "why didn't I do that. If I had done this, my life would be better. I would have more money. I would have owned my house already if I didn't follow them. I need a better job. I shouldn't have choose business in college. Why didn't I plan my life better. I am the only one at work that hasn't been promoted and I am the longest employee there. I should have saved more. I shouldn't have listen to he, she and the old lady."

For the next ten years, she held on to that song. Eventually, it became her number-one hit song.

I listened because she had a good heart, unlike many others I know. Only she could fail herself with all of the resources given to her. She was born with more than one gold spoon compared to me and others who had to earn our spoons, which isn't always gold.

Many settled for a silver spoon.

We fail ourselves in simple ways that we can't seem to see.

Many Jamaicans have a history of not being punctual. If you are keeping anything and want 95% of your patrons to show up on time, push your start time forward an hour and a half.

Some will still show up late.

Punctuality was one of her biggest problems, and she lives close to her job. I learned that as a child, she lived two houses down from the school she attends, and 98% of the time, she was late for school. That habit continued into high school, which was a five minutes walk away from her home. College was sixteen minutes by Robo-Taxi.

She never broke out of that routine.

Many of us live our lives in a routine. A bad one too.

We had somewhere to go, and because of her chronic tardiness, I lied about the time because I knew she would be late.

I went to her house for the first time. I had to wake her. For the next hour, I sat in her living room and watched her waste time doing things she should have done the night before. She knew we had plans for today, and I was coming to her house at a specific time. Finally, she made her breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. I noticed that she made her mint tea last.

In Jamaica, we love to drink tea. Even with a 99 degrees temperature, we are sipping piping hot herbal tea every morning.

I watched her cooling her tea, Jamaican style. It was a dangerous and painful act that I would not do.

We use two large mugs, one up in the air and the other lower down. Throw the hot scalding tea from cup to cup, allowing air into the middle.

That takes lots of concentration; many have learned their lessons through burns and pain.

My commonsense asked, "why make the tea so hot, then wasting time cooling it?"

She paused, stared at me in deep thought, then said, "it's a habit."

Again, my commonsense refuse to shut up, "If you are going to make the tea so hot, why not make it first. Then allow it to brew and then cool while you make your breakfast."

She paused, spilling hot tea on her hands. Then said in anger, "you are breaking my concentration."

I figured out why her life is the way she complains.

Lack of planning and awareness. Many humans live their lives out in their actions and their routines without being aware of what they are doing.

Despite the pain life lessons give, many are still unaware of their actions.

Life decisions should be carefully thought out and carefully planned. It would help if you had a backup plan and a backup plan for your backup plan. I am living off plans I made more than twenty years ago. And so are millions in our world. Being aware of our actions contributes to us making better decisions to impact our lives positively.

Complaints, regrets, health issues, poverty, and all things negative are what humans get when they live their lives without any plan.

Living without a plan is buying poverty, insecurities, and pain.

Planning counteracts anything and everything.

Well, at least for me. I can't move without one. The pain, lessons learned, and commonsense wouldn't allow me to do that.

What about you? Do you plan everything?
