Geometric Rug

There are many options in patterns for rugs. You can use them to decorate a room, or even a tablecloth. Whatever you decide to do with your patterned rugs will depend on what they're going to be used for and how much time you have available to spend working on them.

You can choose between a large variety of styles, shapes and colors. In this article we will look at some of the most popular patterns of geometric rugs today:

Greek key

Greek key is a pattern that consists of a repeated motif of interlocking meanders, known as key motifs, which are often arranged in parallel rows with one or more columns between them.

It can be found in many objects such as architecture, furniture and textiles. The pattern has been attributed to several designers including H.J Ottebert (1821–1911), Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) and Robert McCarter III (1931–).

Herringbone

A herringbone pattern is a zig-zag design. It's often used in clothing, textiles and interior design.

Herringbone patterns can be used to decorate small spaces, such as a bathroom or kitchen.

Diagonal

The simplest of all geometric patterns, diagonal lines can be used in any room. They're also the most versatile. You can use them in any size rug or color rug and they'll always look good. The only limitation is your imagination!

For example: To create a cool pattern on your wall, you could use several different colors of paint and draw lines across the wall that go from left to right (or up and down if you're hanging rugs on walls). Or maybe you want something more dramatic? Try drawing those same lines across three separate walls so they meet at each corner point before continuing onto another wall. This creates a kinder curve than one created solely by painting straight lines across two adjacent surfaces. It's almost like making an actual archway out of these shapes.

Chevron

Chevron is a classic pattern that has been around for centuries. It looks like an upside-down capital "T" and it was originally created by the ancient Greeks, who were obsessed with patterns.

The chevron pattern often appears in rug designs. Because it can be used to create a sense of depth by breaking up the space on your floor or carpet with different colors or textures within each color band. Chevron rugs also make great gifts for those who love geometric patterns

Ikat

Ikat is a type of resist-dyeing technique used to pattern textiles, in which the dyed threads are tied before they are woven. It's also called "kain" or "keris". The resulting patterned fabric can be made from any natural fiber like cotton, silk, wool and even linen.

Ikat was developed by Javanese weavers for their clothing but has since spread across Southeast Asia and reached Europe during trade with Africa (where it was known as "Batik"). Today it is still used in Indonesia as part of traditional ceremonies such as weddings. Each family has its own unique style of Ikat patterns based on their religious beliefs or lifestyle choices like rationality or ethnicity.

Confetti

Confetti is a pattern of small dots. It can be seen on rugs and carpets. But it's also used in clothing and accessories. The most common place to find confetti is on children’s rooms because they are often playful patterns with bright colors and fun shapes.

Diamonds

Diamonds are a popular pattern for Area rugs, and they can also be used in many different designs. You can create a diamond rug by choosing your colors wisely, or you can use the same color throughout your rug's design. You could also add some patterning to the diamonds to make them stand out even more.

You may have seen diamond patterns called "dragons," but these aren't actually dragons at all! Instead they're geometric shapes that look like wings or scales on top of a square base (like an isosceles triangle). These patterns are very common in nature because they're formed naturally by plants and animals as part of their growth process. However, it's possible for humans to create these designs using various shapes. Such as squares and rectangles which gives them an edge over other types of geometric patterns. Such as spirals due to their simplicity compared with other forms like triangles which require more effort from both sides when working together towards completion.

Scales

Scales are used in bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms. They can be a great way to add a little character and style to your space without going overboard by adding too many accents. If you have an open concept kitchen or living room with minimal furniture, scales are a great way to create interest without taking up much space.

Scales come in all shapes and sizes so there's something for everyone! You might want to consider using them. If you want something different than what is already there. You want something that matches other items in your home (like art) and your budget allows for it.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many options in patterns for rugs. You may be surprised to learn that some of these patterns are not commonly seen in other types of carpeting. For example, Greek Key is a popular design but most people do not realize it was originally created as a geometric pattern!
