Impatiens Walleriana - The Plant Known as the House Spore, Ideal for Your Garden
Do you have such a flower in your house?
Because the holiday season is approaching and everyone wants to start a new year with luck, a wonderful gift for your loved ones or your own home could be the houseplant - Impatiens walleriana, which is about she says she brings abundance if she is cared for with love.
The genus Impatiens, family Balsaminaceae, which includes the houseplant - Impatiens walleriana (House spore / Pomisor baietesc / Balsamina) includes over 800 species, native to Africa and subtropical Asia, which can be grown in summer and garden, but usually grow in pots, indoors, on the porch or the balcony.
The plant has fleshy stems and oval leaves, in various shades of green, but wonderful are the flowers of all colors and very resistant. Moreover, Impatiens walleriana can bloom all year round, if it is grown in good condition and if the withered flowers are removed, to make way for new ones.
The name of the plant comes from the fruit which, when it reaches maturity, if it is touched, "explodes", scattering its tiny seeds, up to almost a meter away. Moreover, the stems put in water will take root in a few days, after which you can (re) plant them in pots.
The soil for the houseplant - Impatiens walleriana (House Spore / Pomisor baietesc / Balsamina) should be light and rich in peat and kept constantly moist to ensure continuous flowering. It is also important that the pot does not stay in the current or full sun, but in a slightly shaded area or with sunlight filtered through a window.
If the plant is to be kept on the balcony, it is preferable to be oriented to the south or west and placed next to the wall, protected from the wind or protected by other pots, with more resistant flowers. Large temperature differences should also be avoided, with optimal conditions being between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius in summer and 13–14 degrees Celsius in winter.
For good growth, the plant must be watered every two days, or as many times as necessary for the soil to be moist, but not in excess. If the water is not enough, the stems will soften and dry. On hot days, if the plant is outside, watering should be done in the evening.
The propagation of the houseplant - Impatiens walleriana (House spore / Pomisor baietesc / Balsamina) is done in summer. Take stems (cuttings) of 5–6 centimeters and put them in water until they take root and wait until they reach 1 centimeter when they are placed in the soil formed by a mixture of peat and sand. The first watering should be abundant.
The simplest way to propagate the plant is, however, through seeds planted in a tray, in moist soil. Because the seeds are very fine, it is best to mix them, before planting, with sand, to cover them with a glass or to put the mixture under a transparent and perforated plastic bag. Keep the seeds (with sand) in the sun (around 20 degrees Celsius) for two to three weeks, watering them periodically. When the plants reach 4–5 centimeters, they are replanted in small pots. They will bloom 5–6 weeks later.
Among the parasites that can attack the houseplant - Impatiens walleriana (House Spore / Pomisor baietesc / Balsamina), the most dangerous are the red spiders that can settle on the plants, weaving gray cloths on the backs of the leaves, which will turn yellow. It is sprayed, in this case, with an acaricide. Whiteflies are another danger, which can be seen when the plant is touched.
At the first signs of their presence, sprinkle with water mixed with soap or water with alcohol. If the attack is severe, an insecticide will be used, one of those found in florists, and the treatment is repeated several times. The deformed and dry leaves on the edges indicate an attack of plant fleas. The remedy is also soapy water sprayed on the leaves at an interval of one week.
To stimulate flowering, liquid fertilizer is recommended, which can be purchased from specialty stores. In winter, when the light decreases, the plant needs to rest, during this period reducing the humidity, until the soil dries in a proportion of two-thirds.
Houseplants - Impatiens walleriana (House spore / Pomisor baietesc / Balsamina) is easy to care for, it does not cause any special problems, it only needs the leaves and flowers that dry to be removed regularly, for the plant to regenerate and make flowers rich, and if the stems are emptied of leaves at the base or take on a disordered appearance, the plant must be renewed by one of the methods mentioned above.
Your care will be fully rewarded by the spectacle of colors, red, white, purple, etc. and since no conviction is born of nothing, it may bring good luck to your home.
