How To Rest If You Can't Sit Still
This is for the ones who get bored easily...

I'm not a huge fan of resting the conventional way...I mean, I totally admire people that can lie down and meditate, sit still for more than 5 minutes without getting bored, or go to bed at a reasonable time because they aren't afraid of wasting time. BUT then there's me, and the people like me, who are borderline ADHD and need a little more stimulation during their rest times, or those few hours before rest time...
So, having said this, I've made a list of ways you can rest during the day, without getting bored ;)
1. Meditate whilst on a swing or a swinging chair, or anything that moves you
Unless I am dead tired during bedtime, and I literally cannot do anything but put headphones in my ear...you won't see me meditating. Yet I tell people to do it everyday. Sooo...how did I make meditation more fun? I added another piece of stimulation. I have this new hanging chair thing in my room. And I get that not everyone has this (if you don't I highly suggest it!). But there's also parks or if you're a mum or dad, there is probably a rocking chair in the nursery.
But make sure whatever is moving you, you can safely close your eyes!
Okay, so once you've found something to swing or move on, now it's time to pick a meditation that you also really enjoy. I find that guided meditations with music as well as other sounds in the background are quite stimulating. And when you add the swinging motion to it...it feels like one hell of a ride!! But seriously, it feels like you are floating on a cloud.
2. Paint, even if you're not an artist
Okay, so technically you are still moving, I get it. But it's one of those things you can do and not think. So it's more like a bath for your brain...
And, if you're like me, and have no clue on how to paint anything but a stick figure, or flower...don't worry. It's not about the art at the end, it's about the process right?
Andddd if you really don't want to get paints out and get dirty (totally get it), there's probably an app or few out there where you can paint or colour in. I've tried it, it works for at least 10 minutes. I mean, it's something for us hyperactives right?
3. Write without a purpose
Writing down or typing down everything that is racing in your mind can be soothing AF. And I mean, if a good writing piece comes out of it too, then it's a win, win :)
4. Pamper yourself
Sometimes even just curling my hair can be relaxing. I mean, in that very moment, all I am concentrating on, is making sure my hair is curled and my hand doesn't get burnt from the hot iron. And if it's not hair, it can be a facial, a bath where you do a body scrub. And have some green tea whilst you're at it xx
5. Organise or clean your room/house/car
Okayyy so I get this isn't for everyone, but even if it's not...try to organise or clean a small section of somewhere. You will be surprised how satisfying it can feel afterwards. My favourite thing to do is to colour code my wardrobe...
6. Bake or cook something
Try not to complicate the situation, and go off something that you know you can do. So if you've never baked a cake before, start with something small, like pancakes. The point is to let your mind do something mindless for a few minutes, so doing something you know or know you can do will help. I find it relaxing to bake cakes according to the exact recipe. That way I know I won't mess it up, and I can take a bit of a break whilst it's in the oven. It's also quite relaxing to decorate the cake.
7. Sing, in the shower, in the bath, or somewhere you can be alone
No matter what your voice sounds like, it's about the vibes you get, rather than the sound. Try to turn on a song that makes you get into those deep feels. I, myself get lost in lyrics that I can relate to.
Okay that's it from me. I've burnt myself out for the night...Xoxo
