Working out means different things for different people, but when in the gym everyone needs the right environment in order to get the most out of what they are doing.

Gym air conditioning is now no longer seen as a luxury, but something that should be a feature everywhere, and it can have more benefits than you might think.

Comfort

It might seem obvious, but the obvious but air con in gyms is essential for ensuring maximum comfort during a workout. It stands to reason that even during the coldest days of the year, gym users will get pretty hot and sweaty once the weights start being lift and the treadmill is pounding away.

This can make it difficult to regulate the temperature of the body, and can not only impact on the overall experience, but the health of the user as well.

Air conditioning can help to keep both the temperature and the humidity of a gym completely controlled, reducing the risk of heat stress, dehydration and the growth of mould and bacteria.

Air Quality

Whilst the primary objective of an air conditioning unit is to keep an area cool, it can also play a big art in managing the air quality of a space. A lot of people all working out together means there is a lot of sweat being produced and a lot of bacteria being exhaled into the atmosphere.

When this combines with the dust, allergens and pollutants that you will also find in the air, it can make for a pretty unhealthy environment.

An air conditioning unit contains filters which are designed to trap all of these and pump out clean air into the gym. This means that when you take in a big gulp of air during a workout, the quality of that air is much higher and more pure that it would normally have been.

Improving workouts

Ever walked into your local gym and instead feel like you’ve just walked of a plane? No one wants to work out in humidity and heat. The benefits of air con in gyms seems obvious, when your air is cool and clean you can focus better on your routine and technique.

Whether you workout to lose weight, improve strength or beat a challenge, you will want to do it to the best of your ability and get the most out of it in order to achieve your goals, and air conditioning in the gym can actually help with this.

Furthermore, if your gyms environment is unpleasant for your members, they are less likely to return and may choose a different gym that has the suitable ventilation and cooling.

As the air quality is improved, you will be able to breathe in more oxygen, which will have a big impact on performance.

This means that the body will not get as tired quite as quickly, making it more likely that you can push yourself further and achieve more. It also means that when the temperature is controlled, so are our cortisol levels, meaning that stress levels are under control, and we can actually feel more relaxed after a workout has been completed.

A gym needs to feel comfortable for everyone who uses it in order for them to feel as though they have had an enjoyable and successful experience. It is this which will keep them coming back, and air conditioning is now an essential part of this, to not only make the space feel better, but also to make workouts healthier and more efficient.
