INT. APARTMENT - DAY
We see JASON, a 25-year-old man, sitting on his couch, staring blankly at the TV. His phone vibrates on the coffee table and he picks it up.
JASON
Hello?
FRIEND (V.O.)
Hey man, what's up?
JASON
Not much, just bored out of my mind. You?
FRIEND (V.O.)
Same here. I was thinking we could hang out.
JASON
Sure, sounds good. What do you want to do?
FRIEND (V.O.)
How about we grab some lunch and catch up? It's been a while since we've hung out.
JASON
That sounds great. Where do you want to meet?
FRIEND (V.O.)
How about that new burger place on Main Street?
JASON
Perfect. I'll meet you there in an hour.
FRIEND (V.O.)
See you then.
Jason hangs up the phone and springs into action. He quickly gets dressed and heads out the door.
CUT TO:
INT. BURGER PLACE - DAY
Jason walks into the burger place and spots his friend, JARED, sitting at a booth. Jared stands up and greets him with a hug.
JARED
Hey man, good to see you!
JASON
Yeah, it's been too long.
They sit down and order their food.
JASON
So, what's new with you?
JARED
Not much, just working a lot. How about you?
JASON
Same here. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut.
JARED
I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going through the motions.
JASON
Yeah, it's tough. I'm trying to find ways to break out of it, but it's not easy.
JARED
Have you thought about trying something new? Like a new hobby or activity?
JASON
Actually, yeah. I've been thinking about taking up painting.
JARED
That's awesome! You should totally do it.
JASON
I don't know. I feel like I'm not creative enough.
JARED
Nonsense. Anyone can paint. It's all about expressing yourself and having fun.
JASON
You're right. I think I'll give it a shot.
JARED
That's the spirit. And hey, if you ever want some company, I'm always up for trying new things.
JASON
Thanks, man. I appreciate it.
They finish their meal and pay the bill.
JASON
So, what do you want to do now?
JARED
How about we go for a walk in the park? It's a beautiful day out.
JASON
Sounds good to me.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK - DAY
Jason and Jared are strolling through the park, enjoying the sunshine.
JASON
Thanks for coming out today. I really needed this.
JARED
Of course, man. That's what friends are for.
JASON
I feel like I take our friendship for granted sometimes. You're always there for me, even when I don't deserve it.
JARED
Don't be silly. We've been friends for years. We've been through thick and thin together.
JASON
Yeah, I guess you're right.
They come to a stop by a pond and watch the ducks swimming.
JASON
You know, I don't think I've ever told you this, but you're like a brother to me.
JARED
(smiling)
I feel the same way, man.
JASON
I don't know what I'd do without you.
JARED
(squeezing Jason's shoulder)
