Does Sex Really Sell?
Not to many know this but a blogger and writer does ask this question sometimes.
As an author of romance, I ask myself about the connections between my characters. The chemistry they share, do my readers really feel it. We read authors like Danielle Steele, E.L. James, Helene Hardt, and more of which a great authors. Are we as authors to consumed with the sales rather then the passion of writing? Exploring our characters that we lost sight of what truly matters.
The story that our characters shape, but what appeals to readers these days? Depends on the demographic that your trying to appeal too.
For me as author I plan on releasing to appeal to ages 24-35, and with that comes a deeper way of writing. Something I can do now, probably because love is in my heart.
I want to write what matters to me, as an indie author, and a publisher it helps me to dive further into my writing.
But the question is does sex really sell? I don't really know honestly, I think the most important questions is does romance sell? To answer those questions as authors we have to looks deep inside.
As we think of all those hard questions how do not, consider the one thing that remains our readers.
For me as an author, YouTube content creator, vocal creator, and Publisher I want all to remember one thing when you create different worlds we should always remember one thing don't be ashamed what you create.
If you are passionate about what you write it's easier to promote. I learned this at a writing conference in my hometown from a marketer. So when you you don't a literary agent, traditional publisher, yet you want to represent yourself, or have a publisher.
Well it's not all work all the time, and the fact that you do have a have choice.
So the question now to all authors, does sex really sell to all? It depends on the genre you write. And others elements that are at play.
Either way no matter the element an author writes in there is always some kind of romantic elements. And if you write the scene to right way it really make a fan want more of your writing.
When you have a reader reeled in that's all that it takes. So when writing a sexual scene it's remember to describe the touch of both characters if possible. The sensation of emotion, the chemistry inside and out. How the protagonist and her love interest interact? What makes this moment so powerful? Set the mood the smell surrounding them. And the intent behind the act.
I feel the five senses aren't really nothing compared to my own five thoughts on how to make a storyline powerful. If a reader gets their excitement about the storyline then that's a good start.
So again I ask you does sex sell in a novel, I am unsure but for me the answer is yes. Partly because it shares the connection between the protagonist and the love interest. Without romance in a novel and other elements you don't have a storyline.
Now I don't claim to know it all, but in this case I can shed some light on the deep questions for myself. Share this with my audience. Hoping to be helpful to my readers, and authors who come across to my vocal creator page.
